Is the old ax338 switch barrel?

I know the new ax's are toted as having a 'quick' switch barrel feature.

What about the older AX338's. It seems like when I read old threads, they say say that you should be able to easily switch calibers on the ax338 platform and that they are just waiting for packages to come out.

So a couple questions then.

1. How do you switch the barrel on a current AX338. Not necessarily switch calibers, but just the barrel. Does it take a gunsmith trip or is it a easy DIY 5 minutes job.

2. Can you change calibers by just buying a 308 barrel,bolt, magazine?

This is my first AI rifle, so I'm pretty clueless on how all their systems work....

Not 100% certain on the new, but the previous AX just uses a specific action wrench and requires a barrel vice. Pretty much the same method for any action with a built in or pinned recoil lug.

got it, so its basically like most other rifles...

What barrels did the old AX's use? I think the new ones are bartlein, what about the old ones.
