F T/R Competition Is there any compositions in Wisconsin or long distant ranges over 200 yards ?

Lodi is just north of Madison. I'm heading out Friday afternoon to shoot the 2-day Palma regional there this weekend.

Fair warning, if you haven't thought about it; coming out and shooting F class matches with the 338 is going to toast your barrel pretty quickly, and I've never seen anyone bring a 338L to the line for three matches in a day (60 shots for record plus sighters) and do it twice. (and if you haven't considered it, for a two day weekend with five matches with unlimited sighters you will probably want at least 120 rounds, I usually bring 140.

I feel that they are all built to shoot and not to look at, but the course of fire in a match setting may be a bit much with that caliber.

There is a decent range in Eau Claire. I haven't shot there but have several memos on matches that we're going on this year.

Eau Claire is also nice, but only has a 600 yd range. Just shot a 4x600 match there last weekend. I just looked up Niagara, WI on Google Earth, and you are indeed a long way from any range I know of. Looks like around 4 hours for you to get to Lodi, Eau Claire, or Duluth(500 yard range). I do know one Youper that regularly comes to matches at Both Eau Claire and Duluth. He has a small Scamp camper and stays for the weekend when he does.

Looks like a 2 day shoot with a 338L would cost about $1000.
