Re: Is this AR a good buy?
I don't really have any concerns with the rifle's quality or performance. I just wanted to know if it's a good buy in today's market.
However, 50APIT got me to thinking. It's not exactly what I would want in an ar.
I used to have a mid-length RRA that I changed a bit. Kept it for awhile then sold it. I only used the rifle for going to the range and plinking. Even though I reload, an m&p 15-22 is still exponentially more economical to shoot in regards to plinking. So I sold the RRA and bought the m&p.
I'm getting the desire to buy another, but to be honest this time around I was thinking why buy another 5.56? I already have 2 bolt guns in .223. A model 70 for hunting and a model 700 tac for target/range.
If I were to build an AR I would prefer a mid-length or rifle-length gas system. Really, an 18" stainless barrel with a rifle length system would be perfect.
I also was considering - like I mentioned - something different. Maybe the 300 Blackout, or 6.8, or one of the 6mms, or the 20 practical. Whatever I get I would prefer it to be on the .223 case head for ease or reloading and hopefully can use regular 556 mags.
Thoughts? If I bought one it could be for hunting and for fun. Hunting = hogs, deer, and coyotes.
Thanks
