is this the only oversized charge handle maker?

for a 308 first off. not the latch or catch, but the handle itself. someone had posted about this before, but is this the only one thats out there so far? as usual its high dollar. $120 for all that innovation seems a little steep. but man its not easy grabbing that thing with the scope right over it. kind of limits your approach to it

I tried the tac ops handle on my setup (Les Baer .308 monolith/Nightforce NXS 5.5X22X50). Worked fine though the "second latch" feature (thumb activated) didn't add much. Overall though it didn't help as much as hoped for: I still had some trouble grasping the handle beneath the scope.

I ultimately went another way: Les installed a large latch for me (his design but similar to Badger) which helped enormously and that's what I'm using on the .308. Take a look at his web site: the tac latch is available for purchase and installs like any other charging handle mod

On a similarly setup .223 I'm using Badgers ambi latch which works great. Unfortunately it was not available for .308s when I was sorting out the monolith (may be now).

+1 Agreed! They are usually cheaper and more often in stock direct from Bravo Co. than some other retailers. Midway wanted $87 for the 7.62mm model about 2 weeks ago, now it's $55.

the POF isnt bigger across the top T part is it? and the BCM isnt bigger, just a stout latch thats strong enough to really take the abuse, is that what i am seeing on their site??

and the TAC-OPs didnt really help you out speed dog? did you add that latch to the tac-ops handle or go back to a stock handle?

Yes it is.

I just measured mine at 2.410" wide.

There are different latch sizes on the Gunfighter, with the Mod 3 being the biggest. I have the Mod 3 and have absolutely no trouble -- even with a scope -- getting a firm grip on the charging handle.

And yes, they can take an insane amount of abuse.

i guess if we wait long enough someone will make an oversized gas buster gunfighter with an anti cant and LEDs built in. my stock MEGA seemed really small. i stuck it in a bag somewhere. anyone have a stock model and a camera handy to take pics with theirs, which ever it may be??

my MEGA is 1.950" and the one i got used and was told it was a used armalite charging handle is 2.050". i used it in my DPMS and in this MA-10 and it functions fine. its nice and wide and still lacking just a bit
