Just when ya thought, "Hey, it can't get any worse". And then it does. Harvard for Christ Sake. Should be no surprise, should it? No, not at all.

I don't get this. Chells there went through so much trouble not to be a fellow, and now she is, again?

    Somebody splain me.

So which attribute got her/him/it past the second interview. Trans, spy, traitor? Just want to know what endering qualities are needed on the application form.

A Harvard diploma isn't worth the paper it's written on outside of Boston, NYC, and DC.

    Seriously.

I've heard and read that many times before. It's far more difficult getting into ivy league schools than it is to graduate but being ivy league (think historic and old as hell) they're prestigious so your degree is worth more than any other school.

I'm just curious and actually surprised how this traitor is still upright. By now you'd think someone would have "clintoned" his/her whatever the fuck its thinks it is, ass by now.

Michael Morell, former deputy director and acting director of the CIA, is stepping down as a senior fellow at Harvard University after the school extended a fellowship to Chelsea Manning, the soldier convicted of leaking classified information to Wikileaks.

Morell, a CBS News senior national security contributor, wrote in a letter to Doug Elmendorf, dean of Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, that he can't remain at an organization "that honors a convicted felon and leaker of classified information, Ms. Chelsea Manning."

fuck...does that mean this prick is going to be in my city?.....hopefully he accidentally takes a stroll into southie....i hear they are very accepting of his kind down there

cannot leave this shit state soon enough

Yep. So, are you just shaking your head in amazement and disgust as well? Pretty blatant act that ya just can't take back. It's defining.

Well, it's fucking Harvard. They, along with Berkley and others, are writing their own death notices with their bullshit. All of their inclusion costs money, and that money comes largely from tuition paid by business people who want to send their kids to the finest schools. This problem will fix itself over time.

It will correct itself Tucker. Harvard is absolutely nothing like Berkeley. If your child is lucky enough to get into Harvard, their future is set. Harvard grads earn 6 figures at the start. Highest starting salaries in the nation. You also get to know the future movers and shakers. Some grow up and forget the liberalism that they enjoyed when they were there. Hell, you can afford to be a liberal when someone else is footing the tuition bill.

Scholarships to any Ivy are few and far between. You are either an athlete or poor. Academic scholarships are non existent because everyone that gets in is gifted.

    You're a moron

Why don't you tell us all about your experiences with Harvard. I'm very interested

Fact is you know jack shit

Ivy League schools do not give athletic scholarships...

I've never been to Harvard, but I've spent some time at Yale. Overall, the students were not substantially more impressive than those at a state university. In fact, the professor I worked for came to me one day and said there were a few students in danger of failing his class. What should he do? I said let them fail. He said he couldn't do that...

You're wrong. They do give athletic scholarships. My daughter received 30% for track and field.

Youre correct about Harvard. Basically, the 'Harvards' as theyre called in certain circles, run the country. Its as much who you get to rub shoulders with as the degree. Oprah, or john Kluge may have made billions gut they arent part of the 'Old Boy Network" you become part of with a Harvard degree.

But the average student gets $47,000 in grants and loans. Harvard has a $37.6 BILLION endowment fund and the money they get from research, patents, book sales, etc means they could give free tuition to every student and make a profit every year.

    You're right Maggot.

It opens doors at every walk of life. Most go on to hold key positions at some point in their lives. My daughter was accepted to 6 tier 1 medical schools when most applicants are lucky to get into 1 med school of any type. The only one she didn't get into was Harvard's.

I find that the "sour grapes" attitude is always there. To say that the students are equivalent to those found in state schools cracks me up. Not saying every student at Harvard is brilliant but the reality is that they are as a group the best of the best. Getting in is extremely complex and requires top grades, top SATs (even though they are no longer required) and a differentiator. My daughter did Doctors Without Borders at 16 and 17 since our good friend is a plastic surgeon. She was a flunky and helped with setup but IMHO got her in. Not to mention that she had a 2400/2400 on the SAT and was first in her class.

People that haven't gone through it quite frankly don't know

Nik H - I want to ask you, but please don't feel as though you owe anyone here the answer if you're not inclined to say. But, as someone with tangible invested interests in Harvard, do you or your wife plan on voicing any opinion or displeasure about this to the administration?

Nik H , I get what you're saying. My niece went on a full ride and graduated a few years ago. She spent summers and a few years after graduation doing NGO work in Africa (her major was international studies / government ) but she entered the workforce in Obamas economy and couldn't find a meaningful job for over a year. She's fluent in at least 3 languages (plus English), graduated with honors from Harvard, and was waiting tables until she finally got a menial job in local government making shit money. So while I agree that her degree will probably eventually open some selective doors, she certainly didn't come out of college with a stack of six-figure job offers.

Bogey, I'm sure the hiring freeze with DoS isn't helping her either. She would fit right in...

I asked her a while back if DoS was what she wanted and she said she preferred working with the small NGOs where she had a clear goal and could measure actual success. She's smart enough to have been unimpressed when she dealt with our govt overseas. She may very well end up in DC eventually, but she at least realizes that nothing actually gets done there.

I already sent a letter to Faust and I woke up this morning and heard on Fox News that the fellowship was rescinded.

Evidently, I wasn't the only one that disagreed

Ok, I gotta date with a fish, but before I go lemme say this about that.

I know the Teacher shouldn't have melted down, if that's in fact what happened. Ok so there. The obligatory "Don't Buy Into The Bullshit" comment has been made. Now I'll leave you with this.

Fuck them and everyone that thinks like them. So hate this shit. Teacher will probably get canned. Kid gets 1M outta the Risk Pool. And it just continues to get worse.

I've answered my question at the start of this. No, it's not going to stop. And in support of the Teacher, I get it. Really. And so do each and every one of you.

OOPS. HOW BOUT A LINK? MORE COFFEE :p

Knowledge is power and Harvard is trying to use that power to make us accept as normal things that are not. If you are confused about your sex or gender you have that right. You do not have the right to make the rest of us accept it as normal. JMHO
