Well went home for xmas and my dad gave me my grandpas old target rifle. it is a remington .218 bee breach loading rifle with a 6 power unertl on top. it also says commonwealth of australia on the side of the reciever. well my grandpa died in 87 and the gun has just sat in a closet that i did not even know about and the stock needs to be fixed on it and i would like to take it to a good smith in the nd,sd area wondering about a good place to take it. now to the optics part is there anywhere i can get a manual or info on how to use this scope.it has a serial number on the scope of 42968.and is mounted with unertl mounts. i know the gun shoots good my grandpa has a bunch of small rifle medals i found when looking through old boxes this weekend. my one uncle seen i found the rifle and wanted to take it to the pawn shop. glad i got it first. thanks for the help.

Re: J.UNERTL

the rear mount is your windage and elevation.after you get it zeroed you can loosen the set screws on the sides of the turrets and set to zero.the front is like a hinge and only travels vertically at the rear.so if you push down on it it will move but return to zero when you let it go.they are neet old scopes.the value is from 200.00 and up.condition is everything.they went up to a 25x and had adjustable objective for parallax. things were simple back then.

Those Martini Cadets are great rifles, I have one in 218 Mashburn (218 Bee Imp) with a Unertl 8X. I couldn't tell you how many rodents made the mistake of wandering into the crosshairs of that little rifle. Great fun.

cant wait to take it out to the pdog towns. i see where the set screws are and how to zero that should not be a problem to figure that out. now i just have to get it fixed. cant wait to shoot it.

Re: J.UNERTL

watertown is where i am from and that is why the stock is broke cant remeber the hacks name that was working on it for my brother. i have the full story on why it is broke he shot one of the old reloads and the case and head seperated and had to take it to a smith to get the case out. he broke the stock off when he was working on that.

Re: J.UNERTL

On the Unertl if the windage/elevation knobs are stiff to turn put some Ed's Red on them and let it run under knobs. This is the Unertl Small Game Scope. Don't force anything on it as there are no replacement parts. John Unertl was a friend of mine and he has been gone for years and the factory employees scattered.
On the stock you might check with [email protected] 803-637-5784. they specialize in Brit rifle parts and have some unique parts.

On the Unertl-If it has been sitting for years it is time to have it serviced-before you break something by trying to adjust things that were last lubed 40 years ago! Hummer is right - do not force anything! Over the past 20 years I have had Gil Parsons-Parsons Scope Service-service/repair my Unertl/Litchert/Lyman type scopes. Google for his current site. If you are going to keep the scope-it is worth it to service. Enjoy-barry
