Hello fellow shooters,

I am upgrading my remington SPS stock to something with aluminium bedding and picatinny rail mountings.

I have narrowed it down to two stocks and want to know which is considered better.

The AICS 1.5 thumb hole stock or a JAE stock with the following dealer options which cannot be changed due to being in Australia.

BONUS FEATURES ON CLEAVER FIREARMS JAE STOCKS:
2 X SIDE PIC RAIL ADAPTERS
1 X PIC RAIL LEFT HAND SIDE 4"
1 X PIC RAIL RIGHT HAND SIDE 4"
1 X RAIL OFF HAND REST
1 X BOTTOM PIC RAIL 4"
1 X PALM REST
1 X RECOIL PAD
1 X QD ADJUSTABLE CHEEK REST

The JAE stock is $2190 and is in stock.
The AICS is $1600-$1700 with a 3 month wait.

What is the best stock and your views on either.

Cheers,
Josh

The AICS stock are great. You should spend some time behind one and see if you like it. Some people don't. Not sure on the wait on the AI. If you go the JAE, be prepared to wait (a long ass time). They are nice stocks, lots of adjustments, but all it add up in the weight department. If your rifle is a truck to the bench gun, it may be fine, but hump that heavy pig around, you might regret it. Just my .02, best of luck, J

They have the JAE stocks in the shop ready to go. Only issue is the dealer is 1000mile away literally and no one I've seen has either the JAE or AICS.

Sucks but I need to make a choice based on other peoples experiences.

As for lugging it around, it won't be that bad as I'm used to lugging big guns around. Mainly hunt off a ute anyways so only doing mile hike tracking anyways.

Thanks for your .02 it is appreciated. How was the JAE to handle?

Hey Josh,
I've owned an AICS including the Viper skin version and a JAE. I still have the JAE mate.
SB2 is very correct re the weight of the JAE- it's built like and weighs like a tank. Thus it does a good job along with the FB MB of lessening the felt recoil of my 7mm RM.
You won't want to lug her too far without your ute!
I couldn't get comfortable with the RH/ trigger grip of the AICS. The TH was too broad on the rear arch. The Viper Skins pistol grip was too short and I don't have big hands. This is just a personal observation that applies to me. Everyone's physiology is different so I recommend you try b4 you buy notwithstanding the +1000k's if you can somehow manage it, though it sounds like you can't.
I very much prefer the grip of the JAE including the adjustable palm rest. I also get a better cheek weld on the JAE. It's a very adjustable platform that's easy to get comfortable behind.
Whether it is worth the extra $500 is also an individual call.
I trust you are dealing with Interdiction Logistics?
GL with your decision.

Hey ANZAC,

Where abouts are you located?

Yes well that's it, I can't make the distance down to Brisbane to cleavers who are the dealer with it, I didn't hear back from interdiction so yeah.

I would love to try one out but to justify the cost of buying the stock without the trip down South from Townsville.

I reckon from the reports I'll step up to the JAE as I can get it now and then start building rounds with it as I don't want to build custom loads and then change the dynamics of my rifle completely. Being that the SPS stock is a plastic POS really, good basic hunting rifle but leave a bit to be desired.

Cheers for the information ANZAC.

Bne atm so I can't help there!
The SPS stock is pretty nasty. I'm running an AMU profile Oby that sits nicely in the barrel channel.
The sporter profile may look a little lonely in there for now however you can change her out when the time comes for pretty much anything.

Yeah I looked at the MDT low profile chassis but didn't really like the idea of always having to add more to the stock, also the missus cracked it bad when I said I wanted to buy a new stock, luckily I didn't tell her how much lol

I am another fan of the JAE. I originally had an AICS but personally I could not get comfortable using it. I replaced it with a JAE and love it. They are both good quality chassis but I found I was constantly fidgeting around to get relaxed with the AICS. With the JAE it feels like I can just fall on it and it is comfortable. There is a weight difference but I really didn't notice it much. I hump mine around for several days at a time when hunting and do not find the extra weight to be uncomfortable.

G'day mate, cheers for the feedback, I sent off an email and spoke with JAE today and I'm going to basically get the coyote brown stock that they have on their home page but with the palm rest. I don't mind lumping a decent gun around as I usually have a fair bit of stuff anyways.

Did you have to space the butt pad out or was the LOP good from factory?

I'm 5"11 but big shouldered and I ordered mine with 2 spacers for LOP. I ended up taking them off because of the eye relief of the scope I had on it. They are only $15 each here so they are still nice to have. Since I changed my scope I have one back on. I figure I'd already spent quite a bit whats another $30. Also I ordered mine in the same color you mentioned and love it.

Yeah I'm 6'4 so might need some but see how I go. Was it difficult to add and remove them?

Mine should come to $1800-$1900 as per my order just waiting on time line for it. Then I'll save up for a ATACR scope to mount on the beast!!
Do you have a photo of your?
