I loaded up some 300 WM (in process or working up some loads). I must not have measured the distance to the ogive in my chamber accurately. I used the Hornady comparator gauges. Anyway, when I double checked the measurement, w/ a 212 ELD-X bullet the gauge indicates that the length is 2.924". I have some ammo loaded up to a length of 2.933" (jammed by 0.009"). The COAL w/ the bullets seated like this is 3.641", and my mag can take up to 3.775". The rifle has no problem chambering these rounds, which I do not understand. I thought that at least it would be difficult to close the bolt. I can seat the bullets deeper, but do not understand why they are chambering in the first place.

Depending on throat geometry, you might be able to get a fair amount of jam before really feeling it. After all, a bolt handle is a decent-sized lever, bullet bearing surfaces are small, and the forces caused by the guts of a bolt can hide the forces caused by bullet jam.

Have you tried comparing the bolt feel between a chambered round vs. no round with all the bolt guts removed? Remove the firing pin/spring and ejector plunger/spring if present.

When was the 2.924 measurement taken? Today, last year, several hundred rounds ago? Are there engraving marks on your bullets? Could be a whole host of things, like the camming/leverage forces noted above, or just a bad touching measurement to begin with.

Throat angles are very shallow, id wager you could engrave .009 with finger pressure alone. Moot point for me though. If 2.924 was measured touching, my loaded rounds would be closer to 2.875.

I remeasured the 2.924"and them confirmed the 2.933". Not a big deal topush the bullets back by 0.018"
