Sorry, I just need to vent. It's been over a year and no product. I don't know how many decibles their suppressor is but I can tell you that the company's is ZERO. That's as quiet as you can get.

Up until the last month or so (gave up) I've called or e-mailed once or twice weekly for 7 months. I received one e-mail last July (2010) saying they'd get back with me soon. Debra answered the phone once in October (2010) and stated they've had some personal difficulties, apologized for the lack of communication and delay, and stated she'd get back with me soon for a refund or product update. That's it.

My advice: avoid them like the plague and spend your money elsewhere. I'd have done the same had I researched more thoroughly and read other posts on this and other forums about Mike's Gun Sales. I hope this report did not cross the line into abuse or slander as I've tried to just tell the truth.

If there's a support group made of others who have had a similar experience with Mike's Gun Sales, let me know and I'll join LOL! Thanks for reading.

Rawn,
You are not the only one this has happened too, it happened to a friend on mine. But if you are still in the market look up Shooters Depot in Corpus Christi, TX

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

stay away from shooters depot as well. they are just as bad. If you are in the corpus area and want a supressor use modern pawn.

I see that you must be really upset with the service but posting it on multiple forums as your first post is probably not going to help you out. There are threads everywhere warning against Jet's service or lack there of.

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sale

Rawn, it sucks about your experience......I've already went through they're incopitence. I ordered a custom rifle, paid in advance then they completely fell off the face of the earth!!! I had to literally drive 12 hours to the store to talk to them. After over a year, and almost a divorce I got my poorly built slapped together rifle.
I'm not slandering they're name....they do a good enough job all by theirselves!

My advice on buying a suppressor=buy one from a reputable company like AAC, Gemtec, Surefire, etc.......

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

Rawn, I likewise sympathize. My circumstance is not quite so bad, but bad enough. An approx. $3,000.00 cashiers check for two suppressors, cashed by Mike's Gun Sales and Service (Jet suppressors)six months ago, and nary a response to my email or phone attempts to communicate.

The truth is never slander, nor libel. I know their BBB rating. You don't have to ask. You have the answer. I live in Utah and will probably fly to Houston before summer and see what the deal is. (I know. I'm an attorney's delight because I will spend $10,000 just to recover $3,000. It's just a principle thing.) If I thought I could pull it off I would try to organize all of Mikes burned customers and have a "sit in." I would also organize a class action suit, but the reality is that in TX your home is protected, and I believe so is your means of living. So, bottom line is that nobody would collect anything worthwhile. Just the same, I am consulting with my cousin in Dallas, an attorney. I have already had my UT attorney check to see whether there have been any bankruptcy proceedings, and none have been filed (thinking he may have gone out of business), but the search was in the name of his business and not his person.

It's possible that he is simply a perfectionist, and continues to take on work when he should finish what he has on his table. But there is no excuse for his lousy (and maybe fraudulent) business practices.

Anybody for a Port Aransas "sit in?"

Gary

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

Well, it's nice to see they've screwed other people other than myself and another guy I know from San Antonio. We, however, have been awaiting our silencers since 2008!!!!!
I have hired an attorney and I think he is going to hire the same attorney and go after them.

Like a few other of the posts, Debra quit answering my phone calls & returning my emails. I submitted my paperwork TWICE to her. Neither time, after inspecting the paperwork closer, was there a serial number on the ATF form(s)! I will be seeking over $3000.00 that they have been paid via CC, Attorney fees & court costs. My friend was not only into them for his silencer but for a rifle as well. He finally got his rifle but it looked horrible. They told him to bring it back. He said HELL NO, I have it in my possession now! I'm not about to bring it back to you. He told them he wanted his money back....They shorted him $400.00 in "restocking fees". He took the check but he never cashed it. He's holding onto the check.

He even called ATF and asked about his application. The girl told him there was NOT an application on file for him. She told him there have been a few "MAJOR" (what ever that means) complaints against them.

I know that they went to a reputable gun shop outside of Corpus and wanted them to rep their Jet Suppressor. The shop owner told them there was a customer from the Corpus area that had been waiting for their suppressor for several years. They called me by name and said, "yes, we will take care of ...." That was in October of 2010. I gave them until after the 1st of the year before contacting legal counsel. In fact, I kept forgetting and playing v-mail tag with him until July! Still no CANS!!!!

If enough of us get together and go after them, we could put them out of business for good!!!

As one of the other posters so eloquently stated "avoid them like the plague"! They are theives!!!!!!

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

I drove by their place in Aransas Pass Friday afternoon and they looked like they were still open.

I know a few people with firearms and cans that he built. It took them a LONG time to get their stuff...and they're local guys as well.

Do "look up Shooters Depot." Do a quick Google search.

Thank you for the heads-up , if it saves 1 member from loosing his hard earned dollars dealing with low life companies it's a good thing. Much like posting about a good gunsmith - word of mouth & heads up on forumns can make life a lot easier.

RedJacket Firearms ......but in C.C.Texas </div></div>

+1 Got same feeling at Modern Pawn...

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

I got two from Modern Pawn and they are good people. All I can say. I have seen Jet suppressors and they were prutty good, just too many bad stories about that place and SD forget about it.

The owners of Modern Pawn got into the class 3 game after YEARS of me begging, and finally one of them ordered a JET can, waited the 26 months to get it and realized there had to be a better way. The same owner has been to a number of Rifle's Only sessions(I believe a bash also?) and knows his way around some distance marksmanship.

I basically keep my trust on file with the guys at Modern, and they definitely know how to run a business. Since the JET can, I've done 3 suppressors, an SBR and a SBS through modern, with an average turn around of about 8-12 weeks from the time I signed the check and they mailed it off, and were completely painless. They also had Gemtech come down and do a demo day a few weekends ago-great time had by all.

My experience with JET is that they are nice people, and enthusiastic hobbyists that got in over their heads. The first can I bought was a 5.56 can from them - it took 21 months, they suggested I go through the fingerprint/cleo method (instead of a trust) and were VERY cool to talk to, hangout with, shoot their guns and tour their shop...I had better luck with emails than phone calls, but basically it's a hunting, shooting and building first, business second priority. The can I bought from them does work very well for a 5.56, but I'm convinced my next suppressor will be a Form 1 GT40MkI Creation.

Sorry to rant.

Oh, and Shooters Depot....don't even get me started. AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE.

Whatever you do dont do that. I think I'd rather wait 5 years for a jet suppressor than a shooter's depot can.

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

Buy a name brand can that is in stock at a reputable dealer. That way you know its there, you fill out the form and its just waiting on the ATF.

Re: Jet 338 Titanium Suppressor and Mikes Gun Sales

Yes this story has made the rounds here on the HIDE. JET has had a lot problems. I myself have two of his cans. Both have worked well and I am luck that I am 45 minutes from his shop if I have a problem.

Now if you will notice there are quite a few sponsors on here that have suppressors. You might deal with them if you need to get a suppressor. Just a though.
