Jewell trigger fails to reset

I have a Jewell HVR SA trigger installed on a Surgeon 591 action, set at about 1 lb pull weight. The action was ionbonded prior to installation. Both behaved flawlessly for about 650 rounds, but the Jewell failed to reset after one shot and no adjustment to sear engagement, over travel or trigger pull weight seemed to fix it. Assuming there was a broken part in that trigger, I installed a new Jewell, same model, and it also failed in the same way after about 9 rounds -- failed to reset after the ninth shot fired and remains stuck in the rearward position. I set the sear engagement to be heavier than in the first trigger, in the thought that might be a cause of the original failure. The new trigger failed progressively, meaning it failed to reset, then on repeated cocking of the bolt it did finally reset, than failed and now won't reset regardless what is done. There is no problem with the firing pin so far as I can tell by visual examination; and the bolt cocking piece doesn't have excessive wear or any deformities. I lube the bolt lugs and cocking ramp with Pro Shot grease after each cleaning. The original Jewell got a flushing with lighter fluid twice during its 650 hundred rounds; and the new Jewell had no rounds through it prior to this experience, was fresh out of the package. There have been no pierced primers or other fouling that might have compromised the triggers. The load I run is a little hot, 43 gr of H4350 driving a 105 Berger hybrid in .243, but spent cartridges show no pressure signs.

Would appreciate any ideas what could be causing this reset failure, and please don't hesitate to speculate about causes, am concerned there is a persistent failure mode here that I can't identify.

I have had terrible luck with Jewells. I have broken 3 of them under what I consider mild use.

Since I have taken them out of all my field rifles I have had no trigger trouble.

My paper target rifles still all have jewells in them and I love them. NOthing else feels as good as a jewell.

I wouldn't risk having my rifle go down for the very slight help of a jewell over something like a Timney or Rifle Basix or even factory Remington triggers. I have 3 X Mark pros in GAP rifles that I think are great. I don't feel scared that they will go down when I need it.

Just my .02. Good luck with answering your question

I would clean it: remove the trigger and flush it with lighter fluid. This is a very good cleaner and also puts a light lubricant on the moving parts that don't attract dirt too bad...

I,TOO, HAD TROUBLE WITH MY jEWEL' tHINKING ABOUT A tIMNEY.I fixed it, by going back through the whole set up routine, step, by step, and it worked. No problems, for 100 shots. Maybe that will work, for you.Mine had a problem of "just going off', whenever it wanted to_Oh sh't I just quoted. Been Bashed, about that. sorry Try going through the steps. It may help. they're finicky.

From what I've heard... Jewell triggers are best for bench/competition shooting (light pull & delicate) while Timney are better for actual field use. Lots of videos and articles out there that explain it further.
