Tragic if flawed patriot that gave his all trying to protect the future of the country and was hounded out by those he was trying to save.

We remember McCarthy, but can anyone recall who it was who hounded him out of Congress?

She was right, too; and the Democrats seized on McCarthy as the tool that allowed them to effectively shout down any successive attempts to root out the Communists and Socialists fro our government, education, and general society. This was a pivotal point for the ongoing gradual communist takeover of America.

His methods weren't going far enough, that was the problem.
I'm guessing maybe good long range helicopters were not readily available at that time?
Communists are an evil plague, you can't play nice, you have to root it out and destroy it with extreme prejudice and stay on top of it always, otherwise it sneaks back in like mold & rot and takes over.

McCarthy was grandstanding for his own edification. I have to agree with Greg he did tremendous damage. By convicting people with his accusations he destroyed the credibility of the actual anti-communism push that was well underway long before he became the face of it.
Yes, he exposed a bunch of real communists, but he also destroyed innocent people. The left is making the same ends justify the means mistakes right now.

Communist actually have a right to exist here (sucks but true). Right up to the point they wish to nullify the Constitution. Then they are no longer protected. Sunlight kills everything. Even Communism. Communism can't stand the test of Truth. This is why they try to educate communism into folks. To overwhelm us with numbers. We just need to keep them in the light. Because once they take full majority power the America we knew is over.

It is a crying shame....
I am in LA this week and am appalled at what this place has become. It was always bad but nothing like it is today. Went through Long Beach, roving bands of homeless everywhere. Pushing carts...sleeping on the sidewalks or in any place they can....
How the fuck can this be happening in our country!???
The indoctrination and execution of the long term agenda that has been implemented is really amazing. They have been winning for so long....it is unlikely that that Trump can stop it.

Where’ve you been? I haven’t lived on The Left Coast for almost 30 years, and it was full of transient’s back then. I always thought in LA and points South it was simply a matter of it being more accommodating to sleeping outside.

Honestly, it's mostly the Republican's doing. They're the ones who cut funding and through that shut down so many of the state mental asylums and loony bins on the grounds of poor conditions and violations of the civil rights of the patients. There were certainly abuses, but I think they threw the baby out with the bathwater.
Most of the homeless people are crazy, and probably should not be on the loose. They probably belong segregated in an institution. Pre 1980s the majority of them were locked up and taken care of by the state. I totally get why sane or insane you would prefer the street to a government run institution, but I prefer them not in contact with me and my family, and I prefer knowing they're off illegal drugs and being taken care of....

I would say they're both similar in as much as they espouse ideologies that countervail the primacy of the individual in as much as they both teach collectivism and declare in no uncertain terms they cannot exist as a subordinate ideology/system. Our system of constitutional republicanism has the Christian idea of individual agency and accountability as it's central truth (why people may say our Country is a Christian nation or has a Christian character). Both of those foreign ideologies do not appear to be compatible with individual liberty, individual freedom, or peaceful coexistence within a free society if for no other reason than domination is a central tenant of both of them.
Now, maybe you can come up with a creative interpretation that does not place them in direct opposition, but you are never going to change their nature... sorry. As long as liberty reigns you will have both of those within a free society. Should either one ever become dominant they will destroy liberty as a first order of business. It's a catch 22.

It is my opinion that communism, muslimism, and nazi'ism "can" exist, as long as it's "over there". Over here, in this Free World, First World Nation all of our ancestors and currently serving have done everything to create this FREE continent. So that we're all NOT THAT, because of past lessons learned.
And yet here we are, with the process of "history re-living itself" and/or "history repeating itself" for those whom haven't learned.
