And pre-Hide days, there was the Duty Roster over there on Snipercountry. That too started "a lot" of both discussions as well as products, procedures, and industries.

There's still a few names around, from those 'days of old....' and good to see. At the same time, there are those who've "gone before...." and all I can say is a prayer of Thanks.

Some will know the depth of that.

There's a bunch available on the web archive. Newer folks may not be be entirely aware of the site's pedigree.

Deep pedigree indeed.

I remember Prince Pickle Bunny and somebody going at it with straight razors til they got a couple weeks time out.

Seems like a waste of energy but it was funny. :ROFLMAO:

This has been a fairly friendly thread, has it not?

That can change, very fast.

Something about the pit seems to encourage it. Is it in the water ? Somebody turns up the heat too fast, and the frog jumps out of the pot with a really loud croak... sometimes frog has to be rendered unconscious to put him back in the water... poor frog...

Lets hope we've all, Maggot included, have learned to chill and keep things fun. Thats why I come here, not for stress, theres enough of that in the rest of the world, and Ive had enough, ...ahem..., corrective therapy, for several members.

Used to post on the old Shooters dial up bulletin board which for some reason Shooters decided to shut down. Shooters at the time had some fairly advanced technical discussions going on, better than anyplace else at the time. Frank decided to pick up the slack, started Sniper's Hide and sent me an invite so I matriculated on over.

Things were a little more social back then. I remember things like Frank, Greg and others going to Raton in a beat up Suburban(?) for the big F/TR match and doing better than most the field of "experienced" shooters, Greg with his favorite Savage at that. The site grew, it had growing pains, and grew some more. With the "Great Server Crash" and the Scout problem I lost my handle, got it back, lost most of my posts and didn't get them back. Got interested in longer range shooting and did OK. Five eye surgeries and a bunch of other problems later trying to get back in the groove. Getting old ain't for the faint of heart. I don't post that much since I'd pretty much be repeating myself past a certain point. That and if I said what I really thought sometimes I'd probably get a time out or outright ban.

So a big shout out to all you other old fucks that have been around awhile.

Hi,

What is funny is that some think the forum today "can" be brutal to newcomers that exit their lane and such...but the "Shout Box" days were like an entire squad of Hunter/Killer Teams let loose. (BUT; Disclaimer....none were based on race, religion, politics or nationality; because NONE of that was even allowed on the forum)

Mention the word "sniper" in anything and watch the earth shake from the thunder.
Mention a Unit/Team number and you had better had images of your proof.
Even think of mentioning loophole and the Wrath of Apollo could be witnessed.

Shout Box was instant "call outs" that were either immediately proven or immediately become shark bait.....Was no waiting for reply to show up in a thread.

Sincerely,
Theis

Two threads I recall from back then ended with me meeting, Jhuskey crew. That was when Kguns11 post a uniform from V/N which implied he was there. So when he ask jhuskey to do the scope test, (Kguns an I had words on here) I made it a point to be there an put an eye ball to eye ball on kguns to see if he wanted to back up his words. The interesting thing was I had a very good board read on jhuskey prior to going down to meet Kguns an my perception was spot on. Kguns was a totally different person that day. Then Frank built a scope an mounted it up to see if it matched Kguns quality, LOL After that Kguns was banned for some reason,... Then the pissing contest with Mike D. an Frank came about, that was a good read from afar as well, LOL The one that really tripped my trigger was old water boy aka H20 man. I offered a free round trip port to port if he would just come an shoot HardRock. He said he had no M14 clone to shoot it with at that same time Frank was holding the Bash an Frank offered him a port to port to come shoot an all he had to do was place in the top 50% IIRC. Again he had no M14 clone, so I offered a real deal XM21 with the scope that was serialized to the weapon, an did the 5320.20 thinking he would be on that like, a blue tic hound on a pork chop. Again he pussyed up.
Fopr those of you that don't remember or know of water boy, if you started a thread asking about what to wipe your ass with he would jump in saying the Smith M14's were sliced bread, if you asked about best weapon for your wife at home it was the same tired ass wipe shit. Water boy was a hoot, he even accused me of stalking him on the net, now most of you that know me know how much water that would holed. The guy "Different" from the old battlerifles, then M14 fourms was asking for some info on sanitizef chicom 14's in the congo as well as some sanitized US M14's so I told him what I knew. Water boy gets wind an all of a sudden I was water boys best friend, yet 3 days before I was stalking his ass, LOL. One day most everyone crosses paths,...some by accident some otherwise,... :p:)?

so i see nothing has changed :)
I don't think as many Hide members do road trips any more, to see if the other guys mouth matches his ass, or if the guy want to rethink the deal in person. Most of the old guys are really getting old, or can see it from where they are standing,...

Though Im only a 'middlin' old timer, as you said, dawg, we're getting old and the old unit dont travel so well as it used to. Ive met several other members and liked them all, one with reservations.

This gettin old aint for sissies.

Id still like to get out west and take a class with LL.

The Shout Box was a hot bed of bitches at times. I remember once all I said was I wasn't a fan of mil-dot or illuminated reticles and people flipped their shit over it. They treated it as if I fucked a toddler on Christmas Eve or something. Granted lots of people back then used to look for excuses to bitch about me. And then there was the time Chiller banned me on my birthday because according to him it was "my birthday gift to the whole site". He cheated too! He was suppose to ban me at midnight, but he jumped the gun 2 hours early.

I remember when you tried to school a member on the world of title II toys an KCR, ... That was funny as shit.

I got banned at a rather small gun forum once for telling the owner in the chat room that he was wrong that civilians can't own machine guns. He was one of those idiots who thought that only cops and military could have machine guns.

Well you should have put the facts in his face,... the only times a NFA reg MG was ever used in a crime by it's lawful owner was twice from 1934 to date that I know of. Both times it was by cops,....

I wonder if Gunkid ever graced the Hide with his "wisdom and expertise". Out of all the places that he had made his imprint on, I bet this site probably has the least amount of tolerance and patience for folks of that type.
I don't ever remember him or gecko45 being here

If he was here I doubt he would have lasted longer than a day. Gecko45 was goofy and satirical and his mall ninja article will go down in gun forum history as pure entertainment. Gunkid on the other hand was a totally different story.

Gecko45 was hilarious and he perfected light-hearted trolling to an art form, which is why he is actually revered in the gun community.

Now Gunkid? Even though he would not have lasted long here at all, I am certain that the board will have the most epic fun tearing him to shreds before the thread is locked as a permanent time capsule. Having seen the entire Paparock thread in it's full glory not too long ago, I can accurately guess what kind of reception Gunkid would have if he ever thought of making an appearance here...

I have nothing against harmless trolling online because nobody really gets hurt in real life over it. Gunkid on the other hand not only was abusive towards his estranged girlfriend, but also broke into her house, trashed it, broke into her gun safe and stole one of her rifles. I don't remember how long he was sentenced for, but he was arrested for it.

When FNG's whine about being bullied, they need to be directed to this thread. There is absolutely zero mercy or fucks given when a stupid question is asked in the 'pit... 12 years or 12 days, doesn't matter. Only difference is 12 years laughs and goes along with it, 12 days PM's Lowlight with "metoo", "somebody's lives matter", and "mypussyhurtstoo" tags along with a tearjerking essay about AJ's lack of an apology upon demand with regard to the nuances of "Marbury vs. Madison".

Yep. He made local news too:

According to the folks at Arms Locker, Davis was released from prison in 2010. He had not been up to his usual online shenanigans ever since.
