After getting a lot of realy good feedback from some of my questions here, and doing a lot of research, I'm tending towards on of these JP rifles.

I like the side charging handle, lighter weight, and slimmer handguard. I know I'm giving up some parts compatibilty and they are more expensive than some of the other 308 AR's. Am I missing anything else? Anyone here on the Hide have any first-hand info they would care to share? Thanks!

Re: JP LRP-07™ Long Range Precision Rifle?

I can't speak to any experience with the LRP-07, but I do use a JP-15 for 3gun and some mid range shooting (300-500yds); mine is a sub MOA tack driver. If I had the funds for one I wouldn't hesitate. I'm sure if you had the time and expertise you could assemble something quite comporable from parts for a little cheaper. I know my JP-15 with the low mass operating system, adjustable gas system, and JP compensator there is virtually no muzzle rize and recoil feels like a .22LR so follow up shots are quick and easy. JP is also a company with excellent customer service and a good reputation for standing behind their products. They are mostly know in the 3gun realm, but I do believe they make a bolt gun and were a sponser of the recent Mammoth Sniper Challenge. I don't think you would be disappointed with a LRP-07 by any means.

Re: JP LRP-07™ Long Range Precision Rifle?

My JP LRP-07H is the third .308 platform I've owned since the POF P308 and LWRC REPR. While each has its merits, I have to admit that the JP LRP-07H has got to be my personal favorite.

Besides being an obvious tack-driver, I like the overall weight distribution and fit/feel of the entire rifle. Some other innovative features that I've come to appreciate are:

The non-reciprocating charging-handle folds nicely against the upper-receiver which precludes it from snagging.

Heat-sink option allows for rapid heat dissipation and thus prolonging both the life of the barrel while maintaining minimal shift in zero between a cold-bore shot and subsequent rounds.

Their billet upper and lower receivers mate perfectly and the attention to detail is outstanding. The LMOS (low-mass operating system), coupled with a JP compensator, adjustable gas-block and JP fire-control package makes for one serious race gun. This and a very light front-end allow for ease of multiple target acquisition.

I would suggest that you look at the JP LRP-07H model, instead of the standard LRP-07. Besides being a real value deal (see website for complete details), the 'H' or 'hunter' model comes with a dust-cover. I understand that this is also their military export model.

The 18" JP Supermatch, 416R air-gauged, button-rifled, cryogenically treated stainless steel barrel offers accuracy usually associated with sniper platforms.

Oh and lastly, I have found customer service to be knowledgeable and friendly. I am sure you will never regret your JP purchase.

Re: JP LRP-07™ Long Range Precision Rifle?

In general when you buy a JP rifles you are getting arguably the most well designed, tested and supported AR platform rifles in existence. While many claim the same quality few can match it and I know of none that can surpass it.

With respect to the LRP-07, you are looking at buyng a very fine version of man jewelry. The machining and finish are top notch as well as its performance. With FGMM168 the example I have experience with was a sub MOA performer and functioned flawlessly.

Re: JP LRP-07™ Long Range Precision Rifle?

Thanks guys! I do think I would be getting the hunting model. I've thought about having one built by APA, and I'm sure I would get a great rifle, but I don't think I can come up with a design that would meet my needs better than the JP. I've just got to sell my HK SR9 to make it happen. If anyone has anything else to add, good or bad, please chime in. Thanks again.

8.5 lbs per the manufacturer's specs; that skeleton stock and the 'LMOS' really helps to keep the weight down. My 18" LRP-07H with a NF 3.5-15 scope and a JP microelectronic reflex sight weighs less than a completely stripped 18" LWRC REPR...................(imagine that!)

As part of the package for the 'H' model, I also got:

1 x JP flat-top scope mount
1 x JP barrel-tread protector
1 x JP baseball cap
1 x VTAC adjustable tactical sling
1 x FP-10 high performance CLP lubricant
1 x Rydol Boron Nitride sear/hammer grease
1 x Bore cleaner

I am really interested in picking up the hunting model (LRP-07H) and would like to know what kind of accuracy you are getting off the bench? I spoke with Ben at JP and he was incredibly helpful, but how do they shoot....

Yes, Ben at customer service is both knowledgeable and friendly; I've dealt with him on many occasions. My average spread with 5-shot groups (FGMM 168gr) has been 1/2 MOA. I'm sure a better shooter will yield much better results. Consistent 1/4 MOA groups is definitely achievable with adequate trigger time.

Go with the JP LRP-07H, you will not be disappointed.
