Im new to the hide and have been doing a lot reading on JP LRP-07 for hunting in 308. The precision AR with adjustable gas operating system, light weight is real attractive. I know the price is not cheap though.

I havent seen much talk about the JP on this forum, but was hoping to get some feedback.

What are your thoughts?

Top shelf rifles, parts, and a fantastic company to do business with. You would be very happy with any of their rifles. I currently own three JP rifles and they all shoot exceptional well.

The only "down side" to owning a JP is that once you shoot/own one...you will never want to own any other brand of AR type rifles.

Take care,Stan

It is not so much "an edge" in accuracy. There are plenty of accurate AR platforms out there.
But the fit and finish and the the way they shoot is something you just have to experience. With the low mass operating system and adjustable gas block the recoil impulse is very smooth and mild. I have mine tuned to where it expels the brass about 3' from the rifle in a nice little pile. Staying on target for fast follow up shots is a breeze. Double taps are a blast.

Again...IMHO they are worth every penny. I have tried a lot of AR's...gas piston, etc. I will probably never own another brand of AR.

+1

I currently get 3/8 moa with 175 gr smk w/ factory ammo out of my LRP-07. A lot of the top guys that shoot three gun use a JP for a reason. You won't be disappointed with a JP LRP-07.

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

I wouldn't say you can compare it like that. That's too broad of a comparison. Both are good rifles, but I know for a fact that JP is one well known brand in the 3 gun competitions. Many people love their AR parts. LMT is a good rifle maker also. I myself am a JP fan. Don't own a JP rifle, but many misc. parts on my AR are JP.

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

I don't doubt that the JP rifle is top shelf. However I personaly like the LMT myself. I own several LMT rifles and think highly of them. I am just wondering you would get from a JP that you would not get from a LMT, GAP, or OBR??

CantStop is family member. I want to try and help him get a great rifle. We are all pretty indecisive at times. Any words of wisdom are appreciated.

Small pile of shells to the side...sounds like it will save time on collecting for the reloads...haha

BgBmBoo-Have u worked the JP LRP-07 in the 338 Federal?

I have read many of the same opinions-top notch service and support, great product-would work another AR platform after working with JP. Do you have suppressor with your JP?

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

To take nothing away from their quality, accuracy, and customer service above all JP puts out some serious "Gun Jewelry".

Many who are unfamiliar with JP tend to pigeon hole them as not being "tactical" enough. This is due most likely to years of JP being occupied with selling every gun they made prior to building it and having a large dedicated customer base rather than pandering their guns to every "Super Duper Guns of the Air Army Dolphins" magazine.

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

Have not owned a .338Fed. I am in Calif...we are not allowed fun things like cans.
But with the adjustable gas block you would never e over gassed with a suppressor on it.

I have owned POF uppers as well as a LMT gas piston upper. Kept both for less then a month and went back to JP's.

Again....if you just want a AR platform...there are many good ones. Some folks are happy driving Chevy's while other folks like to roll a Benz. JP is the Benz of the AR world.

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

Yeah, Down here in FL anything goes! Thanks for your input on the JP-BgBmBoo....Im thinking about placing an order this week.

Any must have accessories I should now about while customizing my new JP?

What was the lead time in the ordering process?

Re: JP LRP-07 Hunting medium game

I have both a JP LRP-07 and a LMT MWS. 2 very different rifles.

JP is fairly light weight, excellent single stage trigger, super accurate. I've shot 1/2 inch 5 round groups with it. Fit, finish is 1st class. I think mine was around $3500.

The LMT is fairly heavy, quad rail, good two stage trigger. Best SOPMOD I own. Fit/finish is very good. More .mil than the JP. Compact, tight .308 rifle, mine will shoot 3/4 inch groups all day long. I walked out the door with mine for $2500.

LMT is more .mil, and a bargain .308 rifle. All a shooter could need. Brits love it.
JP is nicer, a little more accurate, less .mil, well worth the price.

OBR is as heavy as the LMT, as accurate as the JP. OBR is as much money as the JP, weighs/feels a lot heavier.
Not familiar with POF. Fuck REPRs. SCARs look like... well, not for me.

On the JP, just buy a couple of 4(?) inch rails. Don't hang a bunch of shit on a JP.
