You should easily be able to add text (MEASUREMENTS) to this image and repost it.
So....
Will this help being able to know which 308 upper will fit which lower ?

I know most won't be able to measure the radius around the buffer tube opening and that it is probably the single most important number to have.
I'm just hoping that there are a few with the same curiousity as mine that CAN.

Re: Just a lil sumpthin

I don't have a ar-10/SR25/P-308 laying about to model....so shoot me :þ

I have a feeling it is close enough

It's also exact dimensionally to a early Colt lower.
Got CNC ?

Re: Just a lil sumpthin

isnt the way to id them the shape of the cutout? one curved and one straight-ish? im just aking. i already own a DPMS lower and was going to use their upper. but with a badger free float tube, i kinda want to have the rails line up. now with all the talk of DPMS's new upper rail height, i am looking at different uppers. id be happy to work on a list if people want to pm stuff like links to DPMS form and Armalite form makers. i need DPMS upper choices that arent high dollar. about DPMS upper price, with f/a and the door or cover installed.

Re: Just a lil sumpthin

Those should help him out. DogboneS, are those drawings for the Armalite GenI and GenII mags or the KAC/DPMS mags? They appear to for the M14 based Armalite mags.

Not really sure. I came across them on the net, while researching 0% lower for AR-15's. They appear to be someones homebuilt plans for a Armalite clone.

Re: Just a lil sumpthin

Looking at the dimensions for the magwell, they do look like they would accept the Armalite mag. I believe the KAC/DPMS mag is longer front to back.

Dunno if you're still looking Dogbone, but there ya go.

As for myself, I am going billet.
A block of top notch aero certified Alcoa 7075 big enough to make both a upper and lower is only 50$ +/- depending on the market that day. It gives me the chance to spec everything to my own needs and add things that are not available from others.

Sure it's a bit more work, but it's also a lot less money.

Re: Just a lil sumpthin

I was thinking about dpms....but I have all these HK G3/91 mags laying about (I have a PSG1).
I could probably even go with FAL mags if I wanted..
You just have to have the top of the mag in the right height and angle to feed correctly and have a bolt catch on last round that works.

I dunno, don't want to try reinventing the wheel.
I'll prolly end up getting lazy and dpms it.

I will be adding more meat for the pistol grip to hang from and I have a nice chunk of cocobolo wood to make a shelved grip (ala PSG1 style) for it.
I'll also try and put a tensioning screw for upper to lower like a Seekins and I would like to make a screw that pulls the upper and lower together in a reverse fashion to that but I don't think I can squeeze it in there without making something weak.

Still scribbling notes to myself as you can tell
