Well after cruising around on this site and trying to decide what would be my first long range rifle I decided to go with the Remington 700 AAC-SD. I bought it today and have a few questions. Should I go with a muzzle break or a flash suppressor for it or what? What is a good brand to look at and where to buy? My budget is tight so I'm trying to find the best bang for the buck so to speak. I'm looking to put a can on it somewhere down the road when I can afford one but until then I wanted something for it. I already have optics and mounts for it. I also will probably need a new stock from what I've read. If anyone has any suggestions on either of these please let me know. Thanks.

depending on if you had a certain suppressor in mind, you could go ahead and purchase the particular flash hider that the suppressor would mount to.. but then again, if its going to be a good ways down the road for suppressor, im sure there will be a better mount out by then escpecially if its AAC.

Thats sound advice ^^^. My recommendation would be if your on a budget to focus more on quality ammo or upgrading your optics. I'm very quickly learning how important good glass is. However, I personally just had a brake installed on my 308 to be able to spot my hits easier. Im sure part of not staying on scope is my lack of training and not executing properly the fundamentals but anyway thats my $.02

Help'd design and build a 700 off of same platform for a friend recently, great thing is its already a 10 twist barrel. we like the JP enterprise break, as for stocks we use HS, Mcmillen, or Bell & Carolson mostly, big thing you can do to help the gun is have the throat in the chamber shortened to increas accuracy a bit, less jump to the lands...

The Harrel brothers make a nice brake for 30 dollars. Their stuff is first rate. Hope this helps. Paul.

I have the same rifle and I would say go with a flash hider not a brake. They are very loud on a short barrel. You got some sound advice about getting the one that you can attach a suppressor to in the future.

^this, brakes are loud, I just sold my 700 AAC-SD that had an AAC Flash-hider on it for my AAC can. I would put good glass on it first then replace the stock and possibly the trigger then worry about brakes and cans last.

Excellent advice. I will have to start searching around for a cheap but descent scope. I'm leaning towards a bushnell tactical fixed 10x40 cause it's about all I can afford right now and I have read that they are good for the price.

i sold off my aac mount to recoup some $$ and went and purchased a spikes dynacomp but im kinda lucky that im going to get to test the new 30 cal can, but like others have said, spend the money on other stuff, its like cameras i have found out, if the lens is crap then you cant get the best view of the picture

Re: Just bought Remington 700 sps Tactical AAC-SD

I would put a trigger in it first for sure. I have a timney 510 in mine and love it. I didn't like the factory one and you can get a trigger for a little more than it would be to have your factory one worked on.
