Just bought a Vortex Viper PST 2.5-10x44 for around $95 + taxes (I'm in Kanuckistan). Will post pics tomorrow. Initial impressions are great. But that means nothing until I shoot it. I like the illumination, the turrets feel pretty solid with enough resistance (although I like having a LOT of resistance on turrets).
Glass quality seems pretty good to me. My eyes haven't been spoiled with high end euro optics, but I have owned several Trijicon ACOGs and I see nothing wrong at all with the glass on this scope.
I am eager to try this out on my soon-to-be-completed Mega MA-Ten build.
I was <span style="font-style: italic">this </span>close to spending the extra cash ($1480) for a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10x32, but I didn't like the Velocity reticle. Seems like a wierd thing to have, when mil-radian based reticles are much more versatile, but a mil reticle on an NXS is ~$1800 up here.
Do like the bombproofness of the NXS's though.
Still debating my choice. I might end up swapping the Viper for the NXS. I have some soul-searching to do.
