I am mostly shooting informally from bench and prone at ranges out to 1000 yards punching paper and steel. I have about 300 rounds down range (newbie) but still I'm shooting consistent .75 MOA. I'm in for the Winter and back to training with pistols until the weather is better...loaded my first couple ladder tests of hand loaded 6.5 Creedmoor and after my first full year of precision shooting I'm going to upgrade rings and optics.

Presently shooting a Vortex Crossfire II 6-24X50 scope and have no issues with it - I'm building on a budget, have no plans to compete. I just want to shoot. But I wanted more magnification and a better bench rest stye reticle. So I got a great price on an Athlon Argos BTR 10-40X56 scope from Doug at Camera Land...Cheers Doug and *Thank You*!!

Hand loads for 50 rounds has pushed my shooting to consistent .5 MOA @ 100 yards and it held to the same at 200 yards so I'm really excited to upgrade optics and start really pushing the range next Spring. I'm looking for reviews from like minded folks who have used the Athlon Argos scopes specifically the 10-40X56 for shooting at range. How's the tracking? Glass quality is a second consideration for me...tracking is everything.

    Thanks in Advance!

Shot this whole season with the Athlon Argos BTR 10-40X56 and I'm absolutely thrilled with it.

Tracks perfectly, the clicks are nice a crisp right out of the box....basically it's almost a Vortex Golden Eagle for <$400. The glass on the Athlon is "good" where the Vortex GE is great/excellent and the GE is a 15-60X52 but then again the GE is $1500. The reticles are virtually identical. And I love the floating center dot and super fine reticle.

I'm thrilled and I'll run this scope until I can afford a Vortex Golden Eagle but I doubt even that upgrade will improve my shooting enough to justify spending 3X the price of the Athlon. I have read several people saying that the detents/clicks on the turrets were mushy and others have said that their hash marks do not line up properly when the zero the turrets but that has not happened to me. If I have any issue Athlon has a Life Time Warranty so I'd just send it in.

I basically bought the scope to get the reticle but have not been disappointed with the scope at all.
