After shooting my new tactical rig I got about 2 mths ago from GAP, I had to have them build me a custom hunting rig.

Just ordered the bad boy with Kerry from GAP, here's the recipe:

-300 WSM

-GAP Templar Hunter action, deep spiral flutes and GAP tactical knob on bolt

-Bartlein 5R barrel, #4 bull sporter contour, 24" long, fluted, 1-11" twist

-McMillan Rem Hunter stock, standard fill, 13.75" LOP, pillar/skim bedded, painted black

-Vais brake contoured to match barrel

-Rem trigger tuned to 2.5#

-Badger M4 lightweight alloy bottom metal

-Badger lightweight alloy base and 30mm rings

-All metal(including rings) Cerakoted matte black

What do you guys think??

Now the wait begins!!!

Re: Just ordered my custom hunting rifle from GAP

Sounds like a sweet rig! I'd like to build one really similar but in 7wsm.

8-10 months sounds about right. I ordered one mid november last year and got the call from Tracy the other day.

Re: Just ordered my custom hunting rifle from GAP

sounds good,

personally i would have gone with a green and tan swirl and all green metal

im just not an all black rifle kinda guy

Re: Just ordered my custom hunting rifle from GAP

shootone,

I have 3 other rifles w/ camo and swirlys, I wanted to try something different. The all black rifle is kinda boring, but thats what makes it unique - kinda like Penn State's football uniforms!! LOL!!!

Re: Just ordered my custom hunting rifle from GAP

I got a GAP .300 WM a few weeks ago and am still impressed. I will definitely get another, I ordered a "Rifle Ready to Ship" though, I can;t imagine waiting 10 months....

PGS,

I'd love to field test this rifle in MT....wink wink

Skyking,

My first GAP was ordered On Dec 10th & it showed up the first of August. What did you build?? I'm sure component choice has a something to play in build times. Some parts take longer to get than others.

30caluser,

I am installing a Vais brake - not sure if it can be removed reapeatedly?? I'll have to ask.

Bluejazz,

I like the looks and design of that scope, but I'm a Schmidt & Bender man all the way!!
