Gunsmithing Just reset the headspace on my Savage 12

Sent the tools to my machinist for mods so I could do the work without removing the scope base. I didn't use a barrel vice but I can see how it would be handy. It really was a piece of cake. I'm still working on a load for it and am headed to the range today to see how these do. Oh yeah, I also installed a new recoil lug from Jim at NSS while I had it apart.

Recoil lug is a good thing!
Savages are fun if you like to tinker for sure. I never bothered with an action wrench, just wrapped the tube in leather, put it in a vice and popped the barrel nut loose.

Looks good, any reason you like the ring cross bolt nuts on the ejection port side?

I had the scope off yesterday and reversed them by mistake. Doesn't hurt anything but it does look like crap.
