I've wanted to try a BDC scope on this rifle for a long time. Found an IOR with Dragunov reticle here on the boards and snatched it up. It's fitted with the .223 BDC and would certainly work well on an AR if this scheme of mine didn't work out.

I sighted in a 25 yards with the BDC set at it's lowest setting, "2".

Found the black and went to 3, progressed up to 8 and then back down to 2. Elevation tracked true.

All shots were taken at same POA at 25 yards. Elevation changes from zero ("2") are as follows.

3 - .687"
4 - 1.45"
5 - 2.44"
6 - 3.41"
7 - 4.67"
8 - 5.78"

I plugged these elevated POI numbers into a ballistics program. The ammo is Aguila 38 grain subsonic, MV 1025fps, BC .111.

According to the program, these should be the corresponding POI's.

2 - 25 yards
3 - 57 yards
4 - 79 yards
5 - 100 yards
6 - 120 yards
7 - 142 yards
8 - 164 yards

Of course these numbers will have to be verified at the range but I will be well pleased if these numbers pan out. I also need to see what drops the chevrons correspond to as well. I'm also going to move the scope to the rear about another 1/2".

Dang it libertyman you have to stop posting pics of that rifle. You are gonna make me spend more money.

22yards per click is easy enough to remember (isn't that 20 meters).

By the way, where did you get your BB with that stock? It sure is sweet.

Ah, you need one. I need another.

I picked up my BB several years back when you could get them through EAA. $210 shipped IIRC. The stock actually looks better in the pics to me, not much grain or contrast. I've thought about refinishing or painting it but haven't yet.

You will not regret purchasing a BB. All the benefits of a bolt action but super fast action cycling. You never have to move off the scope, it's very natural. Oh....and they'll shoot the lights out. Even at $350-$400 they are a deal.

Yep. You can see the can in the first pic.

Re: Just sighted in the new glass on my Biathlon Basic

Update.

The BDC worked like a champ. I did move the scope to the rear and sighted in at 25 yards. I was pushed for time but set up targets at 25, 50 and 100 yards.

Dead on setting 2 at 25 yards. Number 5 is slightly high at 100 yards, about an inch. 3 was 1.5" high at 50 yards. Based on my experience with this rifle, I'm thinking that 3 will correspond to 65 yards and "4" at 85 or so. I didn't have time to check these but will soon.

Now for the rest of squirrel season..........

Paul,

Like I said in my PM it was nice to meet you at the range yesterday. This little BB is definately an interesting path for those searching for a .22 to train and shoot with and the addition of the suppressor makes for a fun package.
