I am in the process of planning an AR10 carbine chambered in 308 Winchester. I am planning on using a 16” Proof carbon fiber barrel, part number 101261, and a Knights URX 3.1 13.5” handguard on a JL Billet upper. I thought I read in another thread, which I cannot find now, about how the threads on the handguard nut were different than the standard AR10 upper?? I may be confusing this with something else and could use some insight. Does anyone know or foresee any issues?

Armalite pattern versus DPMS/Knight’s/just about everyone else pattern. Difference being a thread pitch. I don’t know anything about your JL stuff, but more than likely they are on the DPMS standard. Only one way to find out...call and ask. I don’t remember the thread sizes off the top of my head, but they should be googleable.

Edit - just looked it up: Armalite is 18 TPI, DPMS is 16. Both being 1-7/16”.

I measured my new upper, a DPMS style, and it is 1 7/16-16 UN. I will give KAC a call to verify the handguard nut diameter and pitch. Thanks for the input.
