I was thinking it maybe too cluttered for hunting too.. but doesnt look that way?
Also some reviews say the crosshairs are washing out ?

It is basically a mildot reticle with some extras. I never had a problem with the reticle washing out with mine. (be sure to get a gen3)

Depends on which one(s) youre comparing. I had an NF Atacr 4-16 side by side w/ the Kahles 318. The Kahles had more contrast to my eye, but the FOV was better on the NF. All other optical factors were a wash for me. I chose the NF because of the low turret, locking turret (and a bit because of the NF rep on durability)

I don't do much hunting, but I don't think the reticle is cluttered at all. I think it would be perfectly suitable on a hunting rig.
