.308 build. Shooting 175 grain. Consensus is 1-9 is too fast for this. Barrel is stainless. Would like Heavy Palma 26-30” with minimum 1-10 twist.

Man a 1:9 is fine for the 175 gr bullet. I shoot 1:10 twist with 168 and 175. If it were me I would run it. May save you some trouble.

I thought about it. All the experts say it’s too fast. Honestly would love to just hang onto it and move on...

Too fast is generally if it compromises the bullet integrity. 1:9 vs 1:10 is not that big of a difference. It would be like saying a 1:10 is too fast for 150 gr bullet. I don’t see it.

308’s run 1:10 to 1:14 twist. That’s a big range. 1:10 will turn up over near 200 grain bullets. I have shot 212 gr out of mine messing around.

I really believe the 1:9 is fine.

Thanks. I’d really prefer to hang onto it instead of going through the hassle of trying to sell or swap it. It’s a nice blank.
