Am I right that if it I set my kestral's altitude to zero, I'll get the baro pressure for my current spot?

Or should I set the altitude to what I know it to be?

Is one better?

Re: Kestral

I beleive this is refered to as a "Station Pressure" and as long as you always use your kestrel that is a decent way to do it. One thing to keep in mind though is that to get the baro pressure like you would find on an airport ATIS you need to provide a refrence altitude basically it needs to know the elevation above sea level so it can get you an accurate Barometric pressure. If you always use your kestrel the station pressure is one way to do it. If you wanted to get a relatively accurate altitude for your range just find the neareast airport (it needs to be relatively close and look up weather data for that airport (I use aero weather for the Iphone) then you can get a refrence baro for your kestrel you punch that in and it will give you an altitude from then on out you know the altidue of your range so you have a refrence altitude for the kestrel.

Re: Kestral

So for baro info to input into my Ballistics program I set my Kestral altitude to zero and use the baro pressure it gives me.

If I use my GPS or other device or info and get my elevation, and enter that into my Kestral it will give me baro pressure but I'll need to enter temperature as well right?

Re: Kestral

You can read your current density altitude directly from your Kestrel with no adjustments.

Just use the density altitude shown on the DA screen in your firing resolution along with the wind.
