Kestrel FW Update 1.13:

Kestrel users will soon be able to download FW 1.13. The following is a list of changes:
  1. Ability to transfer a single gun profile to the Kestrel without erasing all other gun profiles.
  2. Removes Privacy PIN Mode from non-Ballistic Units.
  3. Modifies double tap functionality between Weather Mode and Ballistic Mode so user will not go to Main Menu.
  4. Fixes issue with Left Barrel Twist profiles not transferring to Kestrel.
  5. Fixes issue where Kestrel would turn on in Weather Mode when it should be in Ballistics Mode.
  6. Improves connection issues with Kestrel LiNK Ballistics App.
  7. Fixes issue where ZO and ZH would not transfer from apps.
  8. Improves gun profile transfer reliability between Kestrel and external apps.
This update will be available soon in the KLB app, and the LiNK Program for PC/Mac. The KLB app is already setup for this FW.

When can we expect another library update, Doc? I know at a minimum guys are jonesing for custom curves for the rebated tail DTACs and the Noslers RDFs are getting popular too

Is there a post somewhere on how to actually do these updates?

Do I just need to be home on my wifi and turn on both devices simultaneously and it automatically updates?

Have your phone on with WiFi and BT enabled. When you turn the Kestrel on and it connects to the phone, the phone checks for an update. If there's one available you'll get a pop-up message about upgrading.

This summer. Those have all already been tested, we are working on something else right now. I expect that to be in the next 2 months or so.

The profile loader update has been on the website for some time. We have also pushed this information in multiple emails like: http://us8.campaign-archive1.com/?u=85a26d49eeed45e81159c419f&id=6f63198d49

The rollout of information generally goes in this order: First the website gets the update, then our email subscribers are sent a notification. From there we roll the information out on social media and the forums. Make sure you are getting and reading our emails so you don't miss out on this information.

Question for Doc-

Is this new Firm Ware version 1.13 only for folks with the LINK version? I have a non-LINK 5700 Elite with the data cable and I can't find the information on how to update to this new version. My current firm ware is 1.12 and it sounds like I need 1.13 in order to run the new Library version 50 with the 732 bullet profiles.

You can use the LiNK for PC software and the cable to run the FW update: http://appliedballisticsllc.com/support/downloads/ Version 1.04.

1) Download and install the software.
2) Click "help"
3) Select "Update your kestrel"
4) Follow instructions on the popup.

After you do the update, you can run loader 050.

I'm also having major trouble linking an Elite with a S5 phone. Claims it cannot communicate with device, and will not link in Kestrel Link Ballistics app.

Tried with pin code on and off. No luck. Kestrel is paired in phone (S5) and shows up on paired list. Every time I try to "Start Kestrel Atmosphere" it gives me an error of:

"Failed to connect:Read failed, Socket might be closed or timeout Read ret-1"

This is a Kestrel 5700 with Link bought through AB....Any ideas??

Don't pair until the kestrel app is open and then pair it inside t he app

Yes. Because the applied ballistics is built into the kestrel.

To to my knowledge, only the kestrel 4500 is Compatible. If you download kestrel link app you are getting everything you get in applied ballistics mobile but displayed through the kestrel interface. Not sure why this is, I agree I would like to use the weather functions of my 5700 in AB mobile. Maybe Doc will see this and expand on the engineering and probably on a lot of stuff we don't know that makes all this work or not work. My gut tells me this is a kestrel limitation and not applied ballistics.

You are essentially performing a redundant calculation when you run the Kestrel through the app. It has already solved the firing solution, but then you are solving it again. It is much faster to just get it off the Kestrel itself. However the next version of the app already has this feature:

Thanks doc. Sometimes the bigger screen is nice, plus when I use the kestrel on the vain mount I can't see see the screen.

My software is Build 105
Ballistic database is 684.

Is that the newest? It was on wifi and Bluetoothed to my 5700 today and didnt update further.

Need custom curve for SMK 110

The custom curve for the 110 is in the profile loader isn't it? Along with most of the ELD line? I'm still running the 4500NV. Interesting that the G1/G7 for the 110 isn't up to par with what is advertised. .591/.303 is shown in the profile loader

Yes, it is in the profile loader.

It is also in the app now that we have launched AB Connect™ Phase 1. (Automatic Library).

So I have a 5700 AB and use the IOS Kestrel Link app. I guess I don't know what the "Profile Loader" is or where your finding the info.

Yup....not in mine either. Only the 107's.

Nevermind. I went to the Google Play store and manually did the uodate. The 110 smk is there now.
