I got the Bushnell ConX with the Kestrel Sportsman with AB and Link.

    I have a few questions.

When entering Bullet information should I use the drop down menu from the kestral app to build my gun profile? Or use the manufacture BC info? I am using Hornady 140 ELD-M and the kestrel BC is slightly different then what Hornady states.

Also does this model use Brian Litz curves or how do they come up with the Bullet info?

Also any settings that are important to turn on or off for best use? I read the manual and it said that it takes the necessary reading on the ballistic side no matter what.

I'm planning on taking it out with the ConX tomorrow to 1100 yards. So we'll see how close if at all I can get.

It's easier to use the kestrel link app and upload to the kestrel

I'm am using the app and uploading to the kestrel. I am just finding the numbers are different on the Kestrel compared to published data for the bullets.

The app is 100% AB. You select G1 or G7 however the sportsman doesn't support custom drag curves or drop scal factor. On my 6.5, it's 100% on out to 1500

moat of what AB has is different than published

Thanks man. I am excited to see how it does tomorrow. Going to an unknown distance range in the morning that supposedly has steel out to 1100 yards. I will be nice to see how far they are for sure and see what type of hits I can make. I usually just estimate by utilizing my reticle but now ill have something to judge myself by.

I was impressed by myself the other day where I shot a hog in the middle of a field at 347 yards. I used a 10" sign to range and waited until he got close to it. It was intense not having proof how far the shot actually was and just relying on my dope and calculator. Of course 350 yards isn't a hard shot at all but it was still awesome.

As long as your MV is accurate you will be good

I'm running the 140 ELD's at 2820 verified by a magneto speed. Last time I was out though they were moving at about 2820-2850 though. I on the 4th firing of hornady brass without annealing so they are getting a little wonky and my ES was all over the place due to a few rounds. I have started with my Lapua brass but not enough verified to take those loads out yet. Have to do another round of testing first.

42.0 of H4350 is 2820 in hornady brass
42.0 was only 2770 in the lapua so I need to up it a few more tenths.

The more MV numbers you have the more accurate it will be. You can put 5 values in at 5 different temps. This will help it determine the change in FPS per degree.

before u start shooring, get a MV at the current temp and add it to the table. It will help
