Which is the best way to coat with KG coating? I'm looking for a way to apply it with some sort of airbrush or something... Looking to start experimenting to see if I can do it myself.

Re: KG Coating

KG is really easy to apply. I use an old Badger 350 external mix brush. I set the compressor down 15-20 PSI, check and adjust the mix on the back drop and paint away. Make sure you are preping the surface before hand and getting it really clean right before you paint. KG is my go to coating. I have some air dry stuff on order for a stock, just waiting for the pigment to come in.

Get a small gravity feed HVLP touch up gun and run that way. The airbrushes are fine for small areas but the larger areas like complete firearms look better when the HVLP gun is used. Harbor Freight has them for under $50

Re: KG Coating

I have and use both the Badger 350 and the $15 one from Harbor Freight.

Both cover fine but the Badger while more expensive is easier to operate and comes with different tip sizes.

Can't go wrong with either one, IMO.

I used a Badger until I wore the damn thing out.

Got an inexpensive HVLP (the one NIC sends you free with the H-Series Cerakote multi color kits).
Man did that make a difference. Never looked back.

I have a Finex as suggested by someone else here but I haven't actually tried it out yet.

Re: KG Coating

I found the "Porter Cable" HVLP .8mm tip touch up gun to be the best "inexpensive" HVLP. The Harbor Freight one works but I believe it is a 1.0mm tip. I have used a lot of KG 2400 series over the years and it is good paint.
