Gunsmithing KG Gunkote removal

Re: KG Gunkote removal

How big is your tank? Honestly I havent run across a solvent that will take that stuff off. Best bet is to blast in small sections and let your tank catch up.

Re: KG Gunkote removal

It was comming off really well with the blast. The only issue I was running into was the tank loosing PSI so fast. I would let it build up to 120 PSI and it would drop off to 60 PSI in about 20-30 seconds.

I was wondering if I could take it off with a solvent or something like paint thinner.

Thanks for the replie's,

If you have a kwall Howells paint supply close by call and see if they have any B7 stripper, will be in a green, plastic, square 5 gallon container and if they can sell/pour you some off. Its a great paint/epoxy/poly stripper. Make sure if you get some to use orange rubber gloves cause it WILL burn you. Not your skin falls off but will be on fire and might get red... Eye protection also a must.
Second choice would be liquid dynamite that is either sold there or home depot. Less caustic, takes a little longer and not as regulated.
