Kidd 2 stage trigger?

Re: Kidd 2 stage trigger?

I spoke with Michael of Zimmerman Arms last week, and he really likes them. He said it was a SAFE light trigger, and it's what he runs in his rifles. I went with a VQ for my order because I didn't want to be superlight - but I'm going to get another rifle from Zimmerman that is set up just for accuracy and will go with the Kidd trigger on it.

I highly recommend the Kidd trigger. You can call Tony (or MariPat Kidd) and specify how you what the trigger set-up. The first and second stages equal the total pull weight - I have mine set for 1.5 lbs (1 lb. 1st Stage, 8 oz. 2nd Stage).

The Volquartsen and Power Custom Kits are nice improvement over the stock 10/22 trigger - both are much smoother and lighter than a stock factory trigger. The Volquartsen TG2000 is nice as well, but like the trigger Kits' it is still derived from factory design. There are various 10/22 trigger "tuners", but due to geometry limitations the non-Kidd triggers just don't operate as smoothly or crisply.

The Kidd was designed from scratch, and not only has an exact break, but it is glass smooth and can be safely set with an extremely light let-off. I had been down the 10/22 trigger road, and told my brother to get a Kidd. At first he resisted, but after shooting my 10/22 he bought one too. Kidd triggers are expensive, but are well worth the premium over other 10/22 triggers.

Re: Kidd 2 stage trigger?

They're from Lothar Walther blanks. I understand Tony laps a .001-.002 taper. You have to double the money to get a meaningful, if any, improvement. I have several Clark barrels, on Douglas and Lothar Walther blanks, which I dearly love. But when Tony put them on special a few months back @$160, I bought three. I couldn't pass up the deal. One's on my kid's Team race gun; another went to my daughter's BF for his. We haven't done serious accuracy testing, but my son's gotten 1/2" and better with 510 @50yd. On a quiet day with RWS Target or SK Match I expect clover leaves.
My dealer has a 20" KID on his youngest son's (26yo) and says it's scary accurate.

Kidd makes some great stuff.

Re: Kidd 2 stage trigger?

Shot a buddies new Clark 1022 the other day with the Kidd trigger installed. I really liked it. One very nice two stage trigger. The other really cool thing was the mag release that drops down below the trigger guard. Makes mag changes super fast.

Re: Kidd 2 stage trigger?

Kidd triggers blow away every other 10/22 trigger on the market.

I snicker when guys say how nice their Volquartsen or Skeeter triggers are....polished turds compared to a Kidd.
