Is it normal to have some "pixellation" (not the exact word, but close enough) when using a scope with a Tennebraex Killflash to look at a small-ish bright object at night? I bought one a couple weeks back b/c it was on sale and figured I'd give it a whirl but noticed that sometimes when looking at small bright objects at night (i.e. an airplane flying overhead and no, the scope was NOT mounted on a rifle--I was hand-holding it), I could see a sort of hexagonal pattern of distortion that wasn't there when I took the Killflash unit out.
I figured that insert might be a decent alternative to a sunshade since I won't have room for much more than, maybe, a 2" or 3" unit since the rifle the scope is going on will be kind of stumpy and the scope isn't all that small. Between the McRee chassis, 17.5" bbl, and the (eventual) SF can, there isn't much more than a couple inches of free space between where I mocked-up the end of the objective bell and the rear part of the mocked-up brake/can combo. I don't really see any distortion during the day and large bright areas at night aren't much of a problem (i.e. a person-sized target in a well-lit area) but if the Killflash-induced distortion for that one specific circumstance to see distortion is something I have to live with, that's fine and I'll get used to it.
