Don't understand?

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

Warriors are not series II guns and have never had the drop safety.

I think they're overpriced for having naked front straps, but otherwise should be good guns.

You sure about that?

To the OP: You can get a Springfield TRP for the same money. It's a better execution of the same configuration.

Anecdotal: Buddy of mine ordered a Desert Warrior since there wasn't one on the shelf. Showed up NIB with the plunger tube flopping around. When you engaged the thumb safety, the plunger would shoot under it, completely locking up the pistol.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

The springfield TRP is made in Brazil. No thanks.

And I'm sure; that article is a mistake. The Kimber Warrior does not have a drop safety.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

The Warriors are straight 70 series, not Kalifornia legal, I think there overpriced, but not a bad pistol, but nothing close to a series 1 Kimber.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

I'm pretty sure there are two different models made. There are the warriors and warrior II. The warrior II model came with the firing pin block. I have a warrior without and love it. I have shot some of the other custom II and I still like mine a lot more. It is simple just like the older models. Some front strapping would be nice but with the real paymacher grips it sticks to your hand.

I've never seen a "Warrior II."

As far as I know, all are series 70 guns.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

i have a custom II tle/rl. its identical to the warrior. except its not tan and doesnt have ambidex controls and a lanyard loop. i have over 10000 through mine and not a flaw. its just like anything else. if you go to forums, you can find just as much wrong with springfields as you can kimbers, my buddy bought a brand new trp and it wouldnt even cycle hsm 230 hardball. so every gun evevry made has its issues. i know of many more springfields sent back due to problems. if you want a problem free gun, buy a glock or an xd. i love 1911's to death and i would buy my kimber again i also own a springfield milspec and i would buy it again. both are very nice pistols.

No such thing.

The warrior II came out to sell in CA.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

I have a Warrior. So far I have had no problems. It feeds everything. I usually shoot a 200gr LSWC. That bullet has a relatively sharp nose profile but I haven't had any glitches.
I have had no problems with the finish.
The only thing I didn't like was something minor. The front strap is slick, so I installed some skateboard tape.
I use a variety of mags- ACT, SA, Mecgar, Wilson 47Ds, Colt, and Shooting Star. Some are only a few years old and some are old enough that I don't remember when I got them. All of them work in this pistol, and in my other pistols.

If someone has a problem with a particular weapon they post about it and everyone else piles on. If someone likes their weapon people so "That's nice" and move on. Kimber has had a few problems but they do make a LOT of pistols. Every manufacturer will have issues.
If you want a reliable out of the box 1911 you can either get lucky like I did or buy something like a Les Baer, Brown, Wilson Custom, or similar high-end pistol. Most 1911s will run reliably after 500 or so rounds through it, and usually a lot less. Modern pistols sometimes come with MIM parts. Those are a problem if they break, but if they are going to they usually do so early. If they don't break early they are good to go. The exception to that is a MIM extractor. The one in my SA Loaded finally needed tuning- after several thousand rounds. MIM doesn't tune so I replaced it with e Wilson BulletProof extractor. So FAR MY wARRIOR HAS NOT NEEDED THAT.

Properly built handguns will operate reliably out of the box.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

Mine have been reliable from the start- out of the box. I think the problems some have with new 1911s are either ammo related or magizine related. Usually after 500 rounds you will have covered any potential hiccups.
One other possible culprit is that since people want their pistols to be very accurate the manufacturers are keeping the tolerances tight. This can cause problems until the break-in period is over.

BTW, 1911 are properly built.

<div class="ubbcode-block"><div class="ubbcode-header">Quote:</div><div class="ubbcode-body">BTW, 1911 are properly built.</div></div>

???

I own and have fired many 1911s with closer tolerances than any Kimber.

Then you must own some pretty nice ones, because my Series I's are as tight as a bank vault.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

Well, I think we'd all like to own some truly high-end stuff. I have an STI double stack, but a custom built 2011 or 1911 is going to be much nicer than anything from a factory.

Re: Kimber Custom Warrior 1911

i think for about the same price you can get a Kimber Tactical HD with a rail. I own that and it is great with a flared mag well. Mine shoots great and feels very comfortable in my hands. give it a look. i bought that over the Warrior.

If you want it, get it. The Warrior is one of Kimbers better offerings. I've had three of them and they were all excellent shooters..
