I have a chance to buy a Kimber model 82 government , it's a single shot 22, and was wondering if there were any opinions of them on the hide?

I don't recall ever hearing anything about this rifle.

As always, thanks guys!

Re: Kimber model 82 govn't

When I was asking around about single shots for getting into comp shooting, it was suggested to me. Upon further research I found that it is an exceptional rifle that should serve you well. Certainly one I would love to have in the collection.

I have never handled one before but from people I've spoken to that have, they seem to be a very nice rifle. Hope this helps

Go to rimfirecentral or CMP forums to find out what owners think of them. Need to try and find funds to buy one for giggles.

Buy it without reservation. For $623 delivered from CMP you can't go wrong. I shoot mine with a Weaver T36 in Burris rings with the inserts. That lets me get to 200 without maxing out the elevation on standard velocity loads. Without the inserts, the Weaver runs out of elevation at 200 with everything but the discontinued Federal that was faster. My 82 will hold a 2 inch paster at 200 with about any quality match load. Eley EPS or even the Eley Semi-Auto works fantastic. The RWS R100 is great but pricey. Also does well with Wolf or SK. I put a bipod stud in the rail and use it for F-Class practice, as well.

The CMP is currently selling rusty Kimbers, which are new with all the same accessories as the new rifles, but had been found to have some rust on them.....which a lot of times is just dried preservative and not actually rust......for $400. The ones that do have rust usually have it on the bolt area from what I have read.
