Ok guys,I have been talking to my dad and I am getting my grandfather's rifle. My dad got it just before my grandfather passed, and now that my dad is being up there in age, and knees don't allow him to shoot much,I am getting the rifle. It is an older Remington 700 heavy barreled varmint in 22-250. It currently has the original laminate stock and internal mag system. I would like something different, something more....Well me.

This got me looking, and of course the aics kept coming up but the KRG x-Ray chassis system. Would enjoy the next level up, but don't think I could afford that right now. So this got my to looking at the aics mags for the rifle...but at $75-100 that is just nuts! I have been able to find polymer mags, but they are only for the .223.

I know that the 22-250 is a short action, but the mags don't list this. Would like to get a decent mash, but don't know if I can swallow the high price of the mags. Is there another option out there for mags? Our any advice that could be given?

The other thing would be to sell the original stock and use that money towards the mags or stock system.

As of right now I would be using factory loads. I am planning on getting the reloading items, as well as a suppressor for the rifle. Already have one for the .22's and would like to get one for this rifle, and for others in the future as well.

With those mags....would you be able to modify them for a better round fit?

Ok have rifle and it looks better than I remember. The stock is great liking and has some nice grain to it. The barrel looks good though there is not your typical crown in the muzzle.

I would like to find out the date of mfg of the rifle though. I have been looking at a few sites and keep getting back to the main remington site. Though looking at the barrel on the rifle there is spade looking stamp, along with L U 72 or 73 ( can't tell as the last number is extremely close to the recoil lug )

Rifle also has an older bisman sportsview scope on it. Obviously will be replaced but again curious about it.

Would like to find an appx. price for the stock and scope.

Thanks guys
