Will any of the similar "Raven" type holsters with room for a light work without the light? I don't have a light yet, but I am looking at getting one. Could I just use the light holster as a regular holster until I get a light?

Yes and no. The pistol will still go in the holster but the amount of retention that it would have with the light will be much greater. Hate to say it but you are best off buying both.

Im in the same boat you are. I need a holster for my full sized m&p but I plan to get a light, but I need a holster first. Im not going to carry the gun in public, just when Im shooting. I was seriously considering buying a cheap holster before i get a TLR-1 but Im probably just gonna get a holster for the light and get the light later.

B.A. Custom Kydex is doing holsters for 55 shipped with lights and belt loops. Only downside is while they are taking orders they won't be shipping anything till July. Their main kydex guy is moving and needs a couple weeks off to get everything straight in the new house.

I have a Raven Concealment holster for my 5" XD 45 w/TLR-2 and it sucks with just the gun, really loose. Great fit with the light on though.
