I know the 260 is a short action round, but was wondering if there was a benefit of using a long action.

Are there any problems loading some of the long scenars or bergers in a short action?

Re: LA or SA for 260 Rem?

Thats one of the reasons I built a 6.5x47 instead of the .260. I was concerned about the 139 scenars and 140 bergers having to be seated down in the case a little to be able to mag. I don't think it would be much though.

short action like others side, however my 260 and 308 are set up to be ran without the plate in an aics and need a notched reciever

i am running my loaded rounds at 2.90

works great

Re: LA or SA for 260 Rem?

A short action using a terry cross reamer allows me to seat the big bad 140 Berger BTLRs at .010" under mag length with .25" results. Also the same seating depth for a 142smk puts the SMKs .005" off the lands. And those have been shooting in e high .1s. I'd say a S/A works ok....

Re: LA or SA for 260 Rem?

I've got one In a sa. My loaded 130vld's won't fit in the mag. They are .04 off the lands. Why is a sa so much superior? I would guess it is more rigid and therefore more accurate.
