LabRadar ... in case you're listening

Blu Ray literally beat HD DVD because the porn industry chose it. It's a fact that VHS beat Betamax for the same reason.

Your biases (porn has a disproportionate effect on the marketplace) don’t make your feelings into facts but that message seems to be lost on almost everyone…which is how we have so many stupid conspiracy theories…like porn killed Betamax…and blu-ray. Cost, studio support, marketing strategy, consumer support, and in the latter case, streaming availability, all have more to do with both format success than anything. But, you keep buying porn on disc if it makes you hard, bud.

My VERIFIED conspiracy theory is that all of the powder is being stored in porn starlets buttholes, Blu-ray disks (& VHS tapes) are made from melted down dildos (unwashed) from gay-porn sets, and that Labradar units are controlling your mind from LR HQ.

Lead tinfoil, people! That’s the only defense we have left!!!

LabRadar is just a PsyOp marketing campaign by Garmin to gain stronger consumer loyalty.

You know nothing about me or my personal life, so go draw your bullshit conclusions about how I live my life elsewhere. Seriously, eat a dick you piece of shit.

I had to use a LabRadar the other day for the first time in a year and what a joke compared to the Garmin. really crap and so hard to use compared to Garmin.

I used mine today and was angry the entire time thinking how badly I missed the boat to sell the labradar at a decent price

Such "Negative-Nellie" thinking. You should be pondering all the great uses for your now worthless LabRadar. Doorstop, Cookie-Sheet, Nightlight, Fly Swatter ... just a few that come to mind. And it's use as a "Wind-Meter" is of high value ... just set it up, and when it knocks over, you'll know the wind is gusting to around 15 knots. Try to stay positive as you consider alternate uses.

Betamax succeeded in many parts of the world.
But I'm not sure what the porn industry has against Labradar, other than that no one else likes them either.

Anyway, back to porn....

When the LR came out I thought it was revolutionary. I had a series of optical chronographs before the LR, and despite what's in this thread (and other threads), there is no doubt the LR was better. LR always lacked product and customer support, which was the main user complaint. Now that something new has come to market everyone is talking shit. The LR is still better than any optical chronograph still in use. If a user has a working VHS, it is still better than reel to reel (or whatever was popular in 1977).

Ah, good friend, let me elucidate.

There’s a hidden menu in a LR. Bullet fps turns into “faps per minute”.

Porn industry wants high fps so you finish and buy more porn. LR helps us “shooters” moderate our fps and last longer.

Classical pre-Keynesian macroeconomic dichotomy. Or something.

On VHS vs beta. Technology Connections went into the tech in a few videos. Even did quality comparison side by side.
Playlist.

Biggest thing is beta was too short. Couldn't record a football game.

This thread encompasses all the good things about the internet - and a few of the bad things too...

So is the Garmin Xero C1 Pro chrono the newest dog & pony show ? . Company supplied Me with a LR unit ,so as to replace My personal Oehler 35P . They supplied it so I use it for their purposes . Still using the P35 for all of MY stuff ,as all my data from decades is based upon it .
I've run limited side by side comparisons and velocities are within allowable margin of error .

I've said all through this thread that I "LOVED" (past tense) my LabRadar, and the whole premise of this thread (although it's gone off-topic) was a suggestion to keep the new version viable. It was great technology, that has been devoid of incremental innovation ... and that's a shame.

I’m just glad my first chrono was the Garmin. The crap you poor dudes had to deal with…optical chronos, LR, Bulletseeker, etc.

I got lucky for once. 🍀
Yeah, I'm stuck with a $1,200 BSM4... Which works, it's just picky as hell and finicky with placement for proper readings. I love my Garmin XERO. I love my old MagnetoSpeed V2, but I'm quite positive they'll both be collecting dust until I either sell it for dirt cheap, or pass it on to someone, because I only ever use my Garmin now.

I used my Garmin yesterday for the first time.
Stupidly easy to setup and use. It tracked every pistol shot I took (as long as I didn't shoot too fast). It did also pick up some of the shots from the shooter next to me (indoor range) which was understandable since there was only about 3 feet separating us.

I can't wait to use it on my rifles & at an outdoor range.

Finally got a nice weather day and got to use my new Garmin for the first time. All I can say is "Wow" !!! Takes 10 seconds to set up instead of 10 minutes. Logs every shot correctly irrespective of the obnoxious guy on the next bench with a Howitzer and a huge muzzle brake. Synching with the app is easy, internal battery lasted all day, and functions/features work every time exactly as advertised. The only thing I don't like is that I have to Email sessions to myself instead of just sticking the SD card into my computer ... but that's literally the "ONLY" thing I'm not a fan of. EVERYTHING ELSE about the Garmin is faster, better, easier, more accurate, and more user-friendly than the LabRadar. Now I get to figure out what to do with the "big orange fly-swatter" that nobody wants anymore ... not to mention all the extra shit I had to buy to make it work (sight, external battery, recoil trigger, etc.).

Dear LabRadar ... you have a problem, and it's name is "Garmin". The best way to solve that problem is to get your new LabRadar LX into the hands of as many people as possible, just as quickly as possible, even if it means "buying" a little market share. The LX looks like an interesting hybrid device, but it's late to market, and carries some significant baggage left over from the old LabRadar (buggy phone app, bulky form-factor, trigger and battery issues, etc.). Getting people like the readers on this forum to get one and start talking positively about it, is your best and only hope for retaining at least some significant percentage of your market share. The Garmin is (a) feature rich, (b) very flexible, (c) reasonably priced, and most importantly ... (d) available.

You need to make a bold move now, or you're going to be crushed by the bull-dozer that says "Garmin" on the license plate. By the time the LX ships and is in a position to gain some momentum, this race will be over, and you'll never catch up.

Here is my suggestion: While the final version is waiting to ship ... and for ~90 days thereafter, offer a "Trade-In/Trade-Up" special to existing LabRadar owners, and allow them to pre-order / purchase the new LX with a "Rebate" program. Sell the LX at the standard price, and between now and, say, June 1st, that sale comes with a rebate coupon where once your new LX arrives, you send in the coupon with proof of LX purchase, and your old LabRadar, and get a rebate check for (I'm suggesting) $150. If you did this, you'd get the LX into the hands of literally thousands of existing LabRadar owners, you'd "freeze" at least some percentage of the Garmin target audience, and give yourself time to catch up.

Or you can do nothing, and allow the Garmin Xero to literally "steal" your target market. Choose wisely, your next steps. If all you do is finish the LX and put it out there for normal sales ... you're gonna get creamed. (Don't say we didn't warn you.)

Sincerely,

An Existing LabRadar Owner that would buy an LX if it had an early-adopter rebate program.
They had a good run, huh?? Charged crazy prices for a big orange laptop looking thing, that picks up shots of those around you, or, just ignores its owners from time to time. Then, Garmin comes out with a small pocket device, that just works…. Why wait for a Lab$bore to release another? They got your $, Now you’re begging them to take more of it.. Why? Just buy a Garmin. It works flipping awesome. But, U do U. This economy needs your $. So, meh🤷🏼‍♂️

Got the Garmin ... use it exclusively now ... it's awesome. That said, there were some things about the LR that I liked a lot, that aren't in the Garmin (SD Card, Velocity at multiple distances, etc.) but that's not enough to off-set the absolutely stellar innovation in the Garmin. The point of my original post was some advice to LabRadar on how to keep from being totally decimated over the next year. Some (not a high percentage), like me, have the resources and would actually try the LR Jr. given the financial incentive to do so ... hence the Trade-In suggestion. I'll put you in the "No" column on that one. :) It matters not any longer ... I just sold my LabRadar and accessories to a good guy at a fair price.

That’s awesome! Worked out great for everyone.. Enjoy that Garmin, I love mine. I upgraded from the MagnetoSpeed V3. 🤨 I went with it for reasons gave above.. But, it was a pain in the ass. I still have both mine tho.. I take you’re not interested in a mint MS tho? 🤔😂

No thanks ... went through the whole progression. MS-Sporter first ... POS. MS-V3 next and generally liked it. Then saw a LR at the range and had to have one ... worked great for me for a long time. Got a gander at the Garmin and realized it was FAR superior technology to the LR. After the sale yesterday, now all I have is the Garmin, and for now, that's all I need. But thanks ... I'm sure someone will buy the MS you've got. There's somebody out there for everything ... you just need to motivate them with the price.
