I've searched and found good information regarding this topic but not exactly what I need to make an intelligent decision.

I have a bunch of "White Box" Lake city Match Brass from M118 rounds. I'm going to reload the brass using 150gr. BTSP bullets and IMR4064 Powder(it's all I could find). What I need to know is what is a safe amount of powder to use since the Lake City brass has thicker walls and therefore less internal volume. Should I go a percentage less or is there data specific to this brass that I haven't found?

Re: Lake City Match Brass...

Start by measuring the water capacity of five of your LC cases, and then compare that with the water capacity of other cases you are already reloading.

Re: Lake City Match Brass...

Just use what your reloading manuals say but subtract 1-2 grains and work up from there.

Re: Lake City Match Brass...

From Lapua, I have used 0.2 grains less on average to maintain the same velocity using LC match. From Winchester, I have used 0.7 grains less. Probably a good idea to follow Agent Ronin's advice and start 1-2 grains lower. My data may not exactly match your data.

Re: Lake City Match Brass...

Start with the beginning load - from the newest manual and work up. IMO Nosler manual show the 'hottest' loads for some, not all calibers. 150's and IMR4064 is not an exotic combination.

Good luck

I shoot nothing but LC Match and LR. You definitely have a bit less case capacity. That being said, not knowing what you're shooting it from, it would probably be best to start a few grains below what's considered max and work from there, just to be safe. Inless you're shooting it from an HK or FAL, you'll get plenty of reloads from it anyway.

My 2 cents worth-
