I went to town to bring my son for x rays good news he is all right. Bad new my wife let the next door girl stay with her and I come home to a lap top that has fried software! Any help out there how does one buy new software? I only go on a few sites never poke around on the net. If I send this back to sony and have them put new software in it is it worth it? I have 900.00 into the laptop looks like I am going to get my first apple.

Re: Laptop rant

See if you can get here ... and do the free download ... get it on your system somehow and see if it can see anything.

did you have any Anti Virus software on the system or was it naked to the world. PM me if you would like I may have some other ideas.

Re: Laptop rant

Getting a Mac was the best thing that I've ever done computer wise. Also if your Military go to the Government link at the apple store, and you could save anywhere from 50/100 or more. They discount the add on's too. Good luck.

Re: Laptop rant

Software doesn't fry.

Step 1:
Slap your wife for letting your idiot neighbor girl use your computer.

Step 1A: Slap your idiot neighbor girl for going to f&cked up web sites.

Step 2:
Start up computer in safe mode. Download Malwarebytes. Run it. Go back to system Restore and choose an earlier date.

Let us know if this works.

If not there is Step 3.

Re: Laptop rant

Thanks all I have my little girl working on it she has a degree in tech for all this stuff I hope I am able to save the laptop ita a nice little unit next it will be apple thats what she got but Im not paying 2300.00 like she did.

Re: Laptop rant

Most likely it is software. Worst case is you have to just reinstall everything from the rescue disks that either came with your laptop or are on a separate partition of the filesystem.

I don't think it is worth getting bent over, there is so much out there that eventually no matter how hard you try you will have something happen that wreaks havoc with your system. That is why it is best to continually backup your documents and configs of favorite apps.

Re: Laptop rant

Back up stuff if you can.....smoke the Operating System and reload windows. For future safety......lock that bitch down so only authorized personnel has access. You don't need a Mac or any of that crap, just reload windows and get some security applications on it.
