Lapua 22-250 Brass

Re: Lapua 22-250 Brass

Here's what I got, measuring 5 cases immediately in front of the extractor groove:

.4660
.4675
.4680
.4685
.4675

I was actually kind of surprised a) at that much variance and b) some were that small. Still, its worlds better than Winchester which I've seen on .308 cases measure as small as .463"...

Yeowza. Thats a bunch to have to expand to fill the chamber!

As much as I despise the stuff on the grounds of its gawd-awful variance in dimensions - and usually weight - I've never really had any performance or accuracy issues with Winchester brass (again, 99.9% of my experience is with .308 Win and .223 Rem). The stuff shoots disgustingly well anyways.

That said... years ago when I just started NRA HP, someone I knew had some virgin (i.e. undersized) Winchester brass rupture on him and do a number on the stock (most of the gas vented down into the mag well and blew out the bottom of the stock). Not something I ever want to experience first hand, for sure.
