I recently got 100 new pieces of Lapua .223 brass in a trade. I loaded it up with 23.5gr of RE15 and some 55gr bullets I had lying around as a mild load to fireform the brass in my .223 Ackley. After forming it I prepped it and went to load it yesterday and I didn't have enough neck tension to hold the bullet, they came right out. This is with the same die that I used to load the forming loads and tension was fine there.
Mbandy13 compared my fireformed cases to some of his last night. The neck thickness on my brass is .0095" and his is .0013" measured with a ball mic. Would be considered a normal different between lots?
Since neck tension was good before it was fired in my rifle and bad after is it possible that there is an issue with my chamber? I fireformed LC brass and reloaded it without having this issue in the same rifle so I'm leaning toward the brass being the problem but it's just a guess at this point, I'm definitely not an expert.
Any help, suggestions or neck thickness measurements of other .223 Lapua brass for comparison would be appreciated.
