I just picked up a new TRG 22 and I have always wanted to see how the D46 does at distance in the 308 case. The TRG is a 11 twist with a 26" barrel, so plenty of length. I would like to try the slowest powder that I can, mainly to see what I can do for velocity.
I have a lot of experience loading for the 308 with 155g up to 175g class of bullets, but never more than that in the 308. I know I can produce excellent ammo with my normal go to powders (Varget, RL15, or IMR 4064), but I want to try some slower powder. I am competent and fully understand all the processes needed to go slightly outside the box handloading. But I thought I would just ask the question before I start the testing.
What is your FIRST HAND experience with the 308 and the Lapua D46 bullet, and / or slower than normal (for the 308) powders?
