Need some quick opinions. I have Lapua Brass and Remmy brass for my 260. I have not yet loaded the Lapua brass because I may actually decide to sell it based on the feedback I get here.

I have some friends telling me to stick with the Remmy brass because the Lapua has an issue with forming a ring on the inside of the neck a.k.a "donut" where as the Remmy brass doesn't have this issue.

They also said you have to neck up or down the Lapua brass constantly where as you do not with the Remmy.

Not that I don't trust my friends..hahaha...just would like to hear form a few more people before I decide to sell or keep the brass

thanks

Re: Lapua or Remmy Brass

Sad to say but Rem brass gets donuts too, and lately my necked down 7-08 Winchester brass has donuts, but they turned up after 15+ reloads, so shoot the Rem brass until it spilts, then use the Lapua until the primer pockets let go and be happy!

How many loads before to experienced donuts with the Lapua brass?

Re: Lapua or Remmy Brass

Are you talking about making .260 brass from Lapua .243 brass, or are you talking about the new .260 Lapua brass?

In this case your friends a wrong. As was already said the donuts come when you reform cases. With new Lapua brass for the 260 you will get no donuts.

Re: Lapua or Remmy Brass

This is great news! I appreciatre the feedback and was hoping there wasn't an issue. Of course I have a tight chamber .297 so I am sure there will be some neck turning...but we'll see I will load a round tonight and measure the neck hopefully they are .294 or under.

Re: Lapua or Remmy Brass

I use Win 7-08 because I leave a lot of brass on the ground at a match, I have never used Lapua 260 brass because of its price, its simply too exspensive for me, and when I can shoot .25moa with necked down Win 7-08 I don't see the point.

I agree, the gun is shooting really well with the Remmy brass...I got the 300 pieces of lapua brass cheap so jumped on it.

I loaded 50 rounds tonight...they all measured between .293 and .294. So far so good.

Thanks
