Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

Re: Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

It doesn't. I love Lapua and think its worth the extra money. I bought some Nolser Custom brass and didn't think it was any better than the bulk Winchester. It certainly didn't stand up to the Lapua I have bought.

Re: Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

I am using Nolser brass for .260 Rem. I use Lapua brass for .308 and .338. The Nolser is definitely softer, nice quality but softer and pricey. I personally would pick Lapua over Nosler. As soon as the Lapua .260 brass comes out, I will switch to that.

Must be, since Nosler is Norma's sister company.

Re: Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

I've asked Nosler many times if Norma makes their brass and I always get the same answer, NO. They won't say who makes it but they say Norma does not.

Nosler brass is pretty but it's not even close to Lapua quality toughness but then again, nothing is....

Re: Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

I got some Nosler in 7MM08 that I will try as soon as things get where I can get the rifle to the range. I have used the 260 brass too and found nothing to dislike. I like the way it comes packaged already match prepped and weigh sorted.
Now, that said, I will use Lapua whenever possible.

Re: Lapua vs. Nosler Custom Brass

Last night I opened the box and seen that they were alreday chamfered and weight sorted. I uniformed the primer pockets and seen that they were fairly softer than Lapua. Since this is .300 Weatherby Mag brass, Lapua isn't available. I haven't been able to measure the length or weigh them either. What type of spread in the weight did everyone else experience?

When I asked about 3 years ago (IIRC) I was told Norma. I've since heard the reaction you got, so my guess is they switched. This might also explain some other phenomenon.

Mine were perfectly prepped and literally within .5 grains max. They have been tough as nails and I've gotten 20 loadings from some in 300WM.

But since I've bought mine, I heard all kinds of complaints of weight being all over the place, brass being soft, and prep being insufficient. I can buy Winchester for a LOT less and get that.

I personally have no plans to purchase Nosler again until I here some more positive comments.
