Hey guys, my 'smith and I were talking about putting my upper together, and he threw me a curve when I told him about the upper receiver I wanted to order. He said "why not a side charging upper". So I've been looking around and I've decided on one of the LAR Grizzly side charging uppers to use for my 6.5 Grendel build. The only problem is I can't find where to order them. They don't have an Order button on their website and Brownells/Midway/etc don't carry them. Can anyone tell me where I can order an LAR side charger?

Re: LAR Grizzly Side Charger

Mega is my second choice with a Young Mfg side charging BCG from Rainier Arms, but I was hoping for a Grizzly upper first. If I was to order a Mega upper, I'd also need a standard charging handle to fill the hole in the back of the upper correct?

If anyone knows about LAR availability also, please let me know.

I think that you have to call them...?
My gunsmith built 3 rifles w/ them. 2 of them had issues w/ the bolt to carrier clearance making them single shot. They got it sorted out, but worth consideration. They do look bad ass. Same guy just milled one of my uppers and then made the necessary cut / groove for side handle. Drilled and tapped the bolt and stuck in some side charge thing that they got from brownell's.

+1, he is a great guy, and he happens to be my neighbor too. I bought an ops4 precision operator upper, 20 inch 8 twist and had it threaded for my .308 can. I love this gun!!! I love the side charging, it beats the hell out of the old style when you have a scope on. And this SOB will shoot five 75 Amax's into around .3-.4 inches when I hold it straight.
Good luck with your project, shoot mildotz a pm, he can answer any of your questions.

Re: LAR Grizzly Side Charger

I had my uppers done by White Oak Armament. It was uppers that I already had. They do great work, and I think that the price was around 125.00. All I done was send them my stripped uppers and the bolt carriers and they came back great.

Re: LAR Grizzly Side Charger

AA's side charging handle uppers are a Mega upper and a Young's NM chrome BCG. You can save a bit by buying that combo through Rainer Arms. It just won't have the AA logo on the BCG.

Re: LAR Grizzly Side Charger

It is amazing how many people put thier names on products that they don't make, including some very big names in the industry. If people only knew ! Not complaining at all, that is business. Hell, I don't make my own 1911 barrels, but they are made by one of the top barrel makers in the country, but they say Roupe Customs on the hood. My eyes were opened when I got started with 1911's and AR's. Thank God for those manufactures.

Re: LAR Grizzly Side Charger

I bought my LAR side charger through JoeBob's last month. They lasted about 30 minutes after they sent out an in stock notification. This was before all this shit with AR's.
