She was a good, professional reporter before that incident, but she's really opened up about what she really thinks since that time. Perhaps she realized that trying to adhere to conventional, progressive attitudes might get you killed in large parts of the world, where the western-liberal tradition just doesn't count for much of anything. So good on her for coming out the other side of that experience ready to fight and say what she sees as the real truth about the world.
