I put a A2 buffer tube on my large frame mega and my bolt will not go all the way to the rear and lock although it will grab a round and fire
Is there difference in tube lengths?
Rifle length buffer tubes are the same but the buffers are different, a large frame rifle buffer is shorter.
Carbine buffer tubes are worse because there are two buffer tube lengths and two buffer lengths. You either use an AR15 type carbine buffer tube with a shorty buffer or an "AR10" length (same as Vltor A5) buffer tube with an AR15 type carbine buffer.
Flyer is correct. Large frame buffer sold by Aero Precision or DPMS is about 5/8 inch shorter than a regular .233 rifle buffer. They need to be as you .308 BCG is longer, so it goes further into the buffer tube.
