Is the increased height of comb necessary on the OBR? I've seen the add on for the magpul CTR stocks. If you were running a 40mm or 50mm objective could you get a decent stock to cheek weld with say an A2 or LMT stock?

The problem is not getting a stock that can accommodate a higher cheekweld on the OBR as there are plenty of stocks on the market with adjustable/add on cheekrests. The problem with the OBR is the cheekpiece gets in the way of operation of the charging handle if the stock is extended all the way. If your 6'4" and not wearing body armor/chest rig this probably isn't anything to worry about(the stock will probably be extended all the way), but if your 5'8" and wearing a rig up top this makes the weapon useless for anything but punching holes in paper.
I was seriously thinking about purchasing an OBR as every Larue product I've used or seen is top notch, however, their answer to the above question was seriously lacking. Their answer to this was, "...you extend the stock, charge the weapon, and then collapse the stock back down...". So what if I have a malfunction and have to manipulate the charging handle? Or for that matter just charge the weapon? For a smaller guy like me, this is a dealkiller.
I have a deep respect for Mark Larue and his company and will continue to buy his products, just not an OBR.

Exactly, secondstoryguy. IMO, the CTR cheek riser is such a band aid solution. A solution would be to make the OBR a side charger.

+1 My agency is going to external carriers for body armor, and that killed the OBR as an option for me. I think I'm going with a side-charging receiver on a GAP build.

I've wondered why Larue didn't do a side charging handle. My guess would be rigidity or just that the additional steps would add undue expense to the system.
Albiet a bit heavy, I've come to think the LWRC REPR and GAPs AR10s are the best thing going in semi-auto SPR/precision .308 platforms when you look at ergonomics, accuracy and reliability. The Smith Enterprises M1A/M14s are also very nice if you can deal with the learning curve of the safety, mag changes, and high scope mounting position. I really wish LWRC had stuck with some of the original specs that they published when it was the SABR system such as the Lothar Walter barrels. I sold my 20" REPR and bought a shorter model, they both are accurate and run well. The Magpul PRS stock on the 20" REPR sucks ass IMHO(cheekrest too far back to be useable, freakishly long LOP), other than that it's a good setup.

Only a guess, but side chargers have another area for gas to escape, especially when running suppressed. Not a huge deal to get used to or tweak, but definitely a comment I've heard from side charging handle suppressed shooters.

If you want to use a standard AR stock, you can always just lower the scope:
This configuration allows for a cheekweld similar to that when using a LaRue SPR 1.93: upright head, but acceptable.
The cheekweld issue is caused when using the OBR-specific scope mount, which places the optics centerline at 1.535" above the rail so the day optic will line up perfectly with a forward-mounted night vision scope (PVS-22/24 or similar), and in turn requires you to use a stock riser for an acceptable cheekweld. If you are not planning to run this day/night scope configuration, there is no reason to use the higher OBR scope mount.
Of course, if you want to mount a Hensoldt with the 72mm objective, you're sort of SOL on the lowering the scope thing...

I think with the 20MOA built into the rail running a 50mm obj with the standard A2 isn't going to work. I didn't risk it and ordered my OBR with the PRS. That way I don't have to worry about cheekweld or charging handle clearance.
