Rifle Scopes Larue QD mount, with inserts, or without?

So, I am now in possession of a 34mm Larue 20 MOA QD mount. I got it on the cheap, that's why,

Anyway... It came with the inserts so it fits my 30mm scope. The inserts are pretty rough, so I don't <span style="font-style: italic">think</span> they'll shift under recoil from a .308 or a .300 WM, but what do I know?

So, thoughts? Do I need to call up Larue and see about switching this out for a 30mm model?

I had a 1" and needed 30mm for a new scope. A new set of 30mm rings were $20, you could try that route. Just give them a call.

When I was looking at a mount I was using a 1" scope, but I knew in the future as money allowed I knew I was going to be getting a 30mm scope.

I asked the question on wether or not it would be a good choice to go with a 30mm mount with the 1" inserts. It was suggested to me to just go with the 1" mount and sell it when the time comes. They said the inserts could cause havoc, not getting them in just right.

Tried it out at the range today, it was a little weird... I had the scope mounted in Burris XTR rings previously on a 700 .308. That gun is at the smith getting bedded into a McM A5, so I tossed the Larue and scope on my AR15. Long story short, I had to come 14 mils left to get back on target! After that it held zero nicely, but I sure didn't expect a 14 mil shift!

14 MIls off center...

That is a serious problem and I would test your scope now as you more than likely lost a bunch of elevation.

Go back to your rings, 14 mils is not right and I would toss anything that threw my scope off that far.

The .308 should be back this week. I'm going to take it out and see how things go with the Larue on that. If it's still crazy, I'll give Larue a call and see what can be done.
