How well do the LT-719 LaRue Tactical rings work compared with conventional rings? I like the idea of quick detach rings because I am thinking about putting a picatinny rail on a tripod and then attaching my scope so that I can range targets while I am hiking and then use my GPS to check and see how much I was of by. Can you detach the scope and reattach it without losing zero too much, or do you really need a one piece base to do that?

Re: LaRue Tactical LT-719 rings

I was part of a night time operation in which I was paired with a highly skilled sniper. We worked together for an entire week along the Texas/Mexican border. Needless to say, I was impressed with his weaponry and accessories, and he, along with his entire team, swore by anything LaRue. OBRs, mounts, etc., were the norm. I "fondled" his OBR and LaRue mounts, and they are superbly built. Upon concluding the operation, I swore to myself that as soon as I payoff my mortgage, I'm buying LaRue anytime, all the time.

So, I truly believe that the mounts will serve you well for almost any purpose, including the ones you stated. One piece, or two piece, either one will still hold their zero.

Good Luck!!!!!

LaRue LT-719 rings are the ONLY way to hold YOUR countersniper precision optic!

Without a trusty set of LT-719, the 24 step Bertrillium-Zantitium™ multicoating could possibly be misaligned to target.

ONLY a trusty set of LaRue rings will let you shoot with confidence, quick-detach to stab a zombie in the face with the eyepiece, and then re-assemble for a headshot at 700 yards on the next shambling motherfucker to come through the gate!

I would advise you to not use your precision optic to freely range a landscape. Buy some binoculars instead of those over priced rings! The scope will not return to its original zero and you will be missing zombies left and right.

I would highly recommend picking up a Larue Beverage Entry tool and a case of beer. Then sit down in front of the computer and play Battlefield Bad Company. This will teach you all that you need to know about ranging and precision shooting.

Nothing opens a beer with the precision that Larue does.

On a serious note Larue does make some nice stuff. I've never done what you plan on doing so I couldn't give you any good advice.
